Upcoming Wyze Bulb Color smart lights have a bright future

Have you dreamed of outfitting your home with smart lights? Many people have, but outside of a few starter kits, many smart lights are prohibitively expensive. Even $15 per bulb is outside the budget for a lot of people. The new Wyze Bulb Color is set to change that. These bulbs are affordably priced at $35 for a pack of four and packed with features.

The Wyze Bulb Color has an impressive luminosity range, too. The bulbs can drop as low as 35 lumens or as bright as 1,100 lumens; in other terms, they can range from 2 watts to 75 watts. This range allows them to serve as utility lights or as ambient lights depending on your mood.

And like the biggest names on the market, the Wyze Bulb Color boasts more than 16 million colors. That’s the same number of colors as the Philips Hue and the Lifx bulbs, but for a fraction of the cost. In addition to the colors, these bulbs have a lot of temperature options, too. The Wyze Bulb Color ranges from 1,800K, a warm white color, to 6,500K, or cool light. It does this without sudden jerks or changes in illumination.

To add to the list of impressive features, the Wyze Bulb Color is rated higher than 90 in terms of CRI, or in its Color Rendering Index. This means you can more easily distinguish the color of items under a given light source; in other words, these bulbs are excellent for use in closets. You won’t have to worry about mistaking navy for black when trying to choose a shirt.

Finally, you can set schedules and program your lights to remind you of certain tasks or provide important information. For example, your Wyze Bulb Color might turn blue on the day you need to take your recycling down to the road, or you can set it to turn red if the color outside is higher than 90 degrees.

The bulbs will work with both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, and you can also set up features like Sleep Routines, vacation mode, and numerous other automation and scheduling options.

The Wyze Bulb Color will launch soon at a suggested price of $35 for a pack of four bulbs, plus any shipping fees. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly way to equip your home with smart lights, these are a great place to start.

If you've spent any time shopping for smart home gadgets, you've probably noticed that many are built with support for Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Home. These are smart home platforms, and they let you access all your devices through a single app or interface. You've probably also noticed support for something known as IFTTT. IFTTT stands for, "if this, then that." It's terminology often used in programming, allowing software to chain together functions and perform certain tasks if other tasks are detected. For example, if the user inputs the incorrect password, then they'll be notified to try logging in again.
