Samsung Galaxy S21 FE might not launch at Unpacked 2 after all

Another day, another set of contradictory Samsung Galaxy S21 FE rumors. Samsung will be hosting its Galaxy Unpacked Part 2 event on October 20, an event that it already sent out surprise invitations for. Recent rumors indicated that the company was expected to launch its long-rumored Galaxy S21 FE at the virtual event, however, more recent rumors claim that the launch has been delayed due to the chip shortage and supply line issues.

The latest leak about the S21 FE delay comes from tipster Jon Prosser, who took to Twitter to say that the phone has been delayed until January, with a launch tipped for January 11, 2022. Max Weinbach also reiterated the information in the tweet’s comments. However, there have been no Galaxy S21 FE launch teasers from the company, so while the latest rumors could be correct, we still advise that they be viewed with skepticism.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE has been one of the most leaked smartphones recently. It is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC and feature a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.  As per tipster Evan Blass, the Galaxy S21 FE could come in blue, grey, green, violet, and white color options. It is likely to come with the same rear camera module design as the other Galaxy S21 models.

The device has been spotted on the support page of Samsung’s German website with model number SM-G990B/DS, and it was also listed on China’s 3C certification website and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) website. Postings have revealed the presence of up to 45-watt fast charging for a 4,500mAh battery. At this point, the only thing still up in the air is the release date.

New Galaxy S24 Ultra rumor teases a major camera upgrade
The back of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, showing the camera lenses.

It's no secret that the Galaxy S23 Ultra's cameras are impressive, but it seems like the S24 Ultra may be one-upping its predecessor. Aside from the addition of its 200MP sensor, there wasn't much of a difference between the S22 Ultra's camera array and the one found on the S23 Ultra. However, a new leak suggests that the S24 Ultra will be taking a major step to elevate camera performance.

In a post to Twitter, leaker @Tech_Reve claims that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be ditching the S23 Ultra's 3x and 10x telephoto lenses in favor of a single 3x to 10x variable folded telephoto lens. While the change may seem subtle, the difference in what the S24 Ultra can accomplish with its camera array could be vast as a result.

The Galaxy A54 and Galaxy S23 Ultra's camera modules.

Comparing phone cameras is a fine balancing act, where everything from the price of the device to the functionality is considered before taking the first photos. So why are you about to see a comparison between the two?

It’s simple. Because they are so different, just how much better or worse is one compared to the other? Or are they closer together than Samsung would like you to think? Let's see if we can save you money or convince you to spend more with one of the most unusual camera comparisons we've done yet.

The Galaxy S24 could crush the iPhone 15 in a really big way
The back of the Galaxy S23 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro.

You may think it's a bit early to start dreaming of the Galaxy S24, but the rumor mill would happily disagree with you. New details about the S24 recently surfaced online, and if they're true, the phone could have a surprisingly big advantage over the iPhone 15.

Per a report from the Chinese social network Weibo, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset is expected to have a 50% faster GPU compared to the one on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 — the chip inside the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra.
