Leaked Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 renders show sleek design similar to the S7

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Tab S8 has just leaked in new renders. Coming from prominent leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer, more commonly known as OnLeaks on Twitter, these renders look a lot like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 that preceded it.

Despite Android’s lackluster reputation in the tablet market, Samsung has worked hard to build up a respectable slate of tablets. These include both the Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S7 FE in recent times. With high-resolution displays, stylus support, and clean design, these tablets manage to match and rival the iPad on a pure hardware basis, though the available app library and screen optimization need work.

The new renders show off a very sleek-looking tablet in silver. There’s a dual camera on the rear, like with the Tab S7, and the front has very slim bezels. There’s also a slot for attaching the S Pen, useful for those who are artists or note-takers.

Specs-wise, the tablet is said to have an 11-inch 2K display complete with a 120HZ refresh rate. It’ll be powered by the Snapdragon 888 chip, with the RAM starting at around 8GB and going up to 12GB RAM for the Galaxy Tab S8 Plus. These specs come from a relatively unknown YouTube source, the Galox, so don’t necessarily take it at face value.

The Galaxy Tab S8 was supposed to launch in 2021, but the chip shortage hitting the entire market is affecting it as well, and the latest rumor is that the slate has been pushed back to 2022. If Samsung does end up launching the S8 Tab in early 2022, it will find itself in good company, with the S21 (FE), and the S22 also expected at the same time. Samsung may very well end up with a stronger lineup than it originally planned.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 just leaked with a few big surprises
Alleged render of Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Samsung flagship shoppers are apparently in for a bad surprise with Samsung’s next wave of camera-centric Galaxy S flagship phones. The folks over at SmartPrix (in collaboration with @OnLeaks) have shared purported renders of the Samsung Galaxy S24 and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, and there are both good and bad surprises to unpack here.
Starting on a positive note, it looks like Samsung is abandoning the cause of curved screens, years after wowing the world with the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and continuing with its curved glass aesthetics for multiple generations. If the leaked media is anything to go by, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will serve a flat screen.

This is certainly good news for folks worried sick about ghost touches alongside the curved edges and the damage-prone nature of such a design. The curved glass exit is marked by the arrival of slimmer bezels, which are uniform on all sides. Apparently, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will have the slimmest bezels that Samsung has ever offered on a phone.
I am a sucker for curved glass aesthetics, but I would be lying if I disparage the looks of the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s impressively thin bezels. A few weeks ago, another leaker (@UniverseIce) posted a concept-based rendition of the Galaxy S24 Ultra, highlighting the fresh looks. The rest of the package, however, remains unchanged from a design perspective.
Just like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, we get flat metallic side rails with subtly rounded edges. Speculations point toward a 6.8-inch display with 2,000 nits brightness output, Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip inside, up to 16GB of RAM, 2TB storage, and four cameras at the back in a familiar floating lens look.
Next, we have alleged renders of the vanilla Galaxy S24. It takes the design foundations of the Samsung Galaxy S23 and gives it an unwelcome twist. I am talking about that flattened frame with sharp edges. Samsung is clearly imitating the looks that Apple introduced with the iPhone 12 Pro series (before it reversed course with the iPhone 15 Pro).

Samsung’s existing slate of Android tablets is one of the finest hardware of its kind, and it appears that the company doesn’t want to stray from the winning formula any time soon. Leaker @OnLeaks has shared renders of the Galaxy S9 Plus, and they bear a striking similarity to its Galaxy Tab S8 series predecessor.

The sleek metallic build with sharp edges is here to stay, and so is the contrasting magnetic strip at the back. The bezel size also remains familiar, while the horizontally positioned selfie camera is once again positioned at the same spot.
