Special look at Andor teases the beginnings of a rebellion

Rogue One introduced the world to Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), a Rebel captain and intelligence officer who played an integral role in the fight against the Empire. But how did Cassian become one of the faces of the rebellion? That’s the premise for the newest Star Wars adventure on Disney+, Andor.

Footage from a new special look at Andor begins with the critical events of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. These include Princess Leia hiding the Death Star plans in R2-D2, and Luke Skywalker destroying the Death Star in his X-wing starfighter. As the trailer states, “Before hope was found and before the Empire fell, rebels were born.”

The footage then depicts the key points in Rogue One where Cassian became a hero. From recruiting Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) to the raid on Scarif, it all culminates with the transmission of the Death Star schematics to the Rebel fleet moments before the planet explodes, killing Andor in the process.

The new series, which begins five years before the events of Rogue One, shows Andor was nothing more than a lowly thief before becoming a hero. Cassian’s home was destroyed by the Empire, which makes him the perfect recruit for the emerging Rebellion. Because of Cassian’s defiant personality and expert thievery, he eventually becomes one of the Rebellion’s best spies.

Created by Tony Gilroy, Andor‘s first season will consist of 12 episodes. Starring alongside Luna are Adria Arjona, Kyle Soller, James McArdle, Joplin Sibtain, Fiona Shaw, Stellan Skarsgård, and Genevieve O’Reilly. A 12-episode second season is in development.

Andor premieres on Disney+ on September 21 with three episodes.

Did Andor ruin Ahsoka, and maybe the entire Star Wars franchise, by being too good?

Disney+’s Ahsoka is a lot of things: A quasi-sequel to Star Wars Rebels, a spinoff of The Mandalorian, a rollicking space adventure. Above all else, though, Ahsoka is a show made by and for Star Wars fans. Created by George Lucas’ chosen protégé, Dave Filoni, the series is overflowing with details, Easter eggs, and characters from past Star Wars films and TV shows — namely, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Rebels. These various references have all been collected in a story that seems designed to serve as the bridge between the Rebels finale and Filoni’s now-announced Star Wars crossover film, which will purportedly close out the New Republic story first introduced in The Mandalorian.

At the center of said story is the villainous Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) and the Imperial Remnant’s quest to bring him back into the fold. That mission is the driving narrative force of Ahsoka, which pits the show’s heroes against those who wish to find Thrawn and rescue him from his years-long exile in a foreign galaxy. The series is, in other words, a lot less about Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and her personal journey than its title would lead you to believe. In fact, of all of its concerns, Ahsoka’s characters feel increasingly less like its top priority.

Ahsoka vs. Anakin Skywalker: who would win in a fight?

With Disney+'s latest Star Wars show, Ahsoka, nearing its release, fans are excited to see Ahsoka Tano and the Ghost crew reunite to face Grand Admiral Thrawn again. Not only that but Hayden Christensen is set to reprise his role as the legendary Anakin Skywalker, which has raised hopes for him sharing a scene and his former apprentice.

But with the prospect of these two Jedi appearing on the same show again, fans still can't help but wonder which one of them would win in a fight.
