‘Dead Island’ dev Techland goes back to zombies in ‘Dying Light’ for WBIE

Dying Light

Dead Island developer Techland is turning from zombies to… more zombies with Dying Light, a newly announced first-person “action survival horror game” to be published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The game heads to both current-gen and next-gen consoles as well as PC sometime in 2014.

The game is set in a “vast open world” with “a portentous day-night cycle,” according to a press release. Players spend the daylight hours scavenging for supplies and crafting weapons in a decrepit city, while nighttime brings more powerful enemies as “the hunter becomes the hunted.” Dying Light also features free-running mechanics that allow for “nearly unrestricted exploration.”

It sounds like parts of Metro: Last Light, Minecraft, I Am Legend, and, of course Dead Island, Techland’s first-person zombie hack-and-slash series, all rolled into one. There’s also a Facebook  page with some more images. Hopefully we’ll get a look at Dying Light during E3 2013 in June.
