No, ‘Persona 5’ is not coming to the Switch or PC — for real this time

For those unfamiliar with the work of John Hardin, he’s a public relations manager for Atlus and he’s clearly very irritated with people asking him if Persona 5 is coming to Nintendo Switch. After being listed back at the hybrid console’s October reveal as a platform partner, it’s no surprise that Atlus was pressured into revealing early just which games were not on the way.

If you’re a fan of both Nintendo and Atlus, however, you may be saddened to know that whatever the developer has in store for the Switch, it’s neither Yakuza 0 nor Persona 5. Rather, each of those games is destined for PlayStation 4, with the latter also making its way to the ever-aging PS3.

This news comes via Twitter, where Hardin confirmed that not only are these fan-favorite titles sidestepping the Switch, but they’re also averting PC releases. As he bluntly put on Twitter, accompanied by a GIF from HBO’s Silicon Valley.

Not even one day after the Nintendo Switch reveal video dropped, Reddit was scrambling to catch Atlus’ attention, with an entire thread commanding the company to release a port of the highly anticipated RPG.

“They have no excuse to say it is not powerful enough, and it would have to be downgraded to meet the likes of Vita,” said Reddit user Guitar_Smash. “If this handheld can run Skyrim, these [guys] need to get to work.”

As for the N-Gage, Hardin suggested to one Twitter follower that they “burn it and free the demons within.” For those looking to play either Yakuza 0 or Persona 5 on Sony’s platforms, you can experience Atlus’ latest on January 24 and April 4, respectively.

Yakuza 0 initially appeared on store shelves in Japan in 2015 for PS3 but was later brought to PS4 as well. It was announced for a North American release in December. Persona 5, which was originally slated for a February launch, was delayed in November.

The Persona series has always treated skills in a unique way. While different from its JRPG older sibling, Persona 5 Tactica takes a slightly more traditional approach to how you will get new skills and abilities. Instead of being tied exclusively to leveling up and fusing your Persona together, this time each of your characters has their own skill trees that you work through. The trees themselves are broken into various categories, including elemental moves, passive buffs, and A Rebellious Resolve that impacts HP, SP, and movement. These trees aren't too complex, but GP doesn't come so easy in the early game, and plotting out your path is just another part of the tactical experience you need to master. Best skills to unlock

While each character's skill tree is unique in the sense that the branches have different names, the way they function is similar (except for Futaba). The only real difference is what element you're upgrading for each character's specific Persona. Remember that you can always respec your character if you want to rebuild them for a stronger set of skills.
Soul Repose
Every character needs Soul Repose, and it's almost nonnegotiable. Just like in the mainline games, SP, or your mana, is always at a premium. This is required to use any of your Persona powers, which are by far the most lethal moves you have. Being a limited resource, you will be forced to pick and choose when you can afford to spend it as it won't come back for free. Soul Repose alleviates that somewhat by restoring a bit of your SP when that character is in cover.
Elemental boosts and Single-target elemental attacks
Now that you don't have to worry as much about casting spells, it's time to buff them. Simply increasing your Persona's elemental strength is great, but we would also suggest focusing on the single-target version of their attacks as opposed to ones that can hit multiple targets. These are stronger, but also actually can hit more than one target if they're close enough. Plus, you'll be glad for the increased damage on a single unit when facing the bosses.
Healing
Also in the main Persona tree are the healing moves. Depending on the character, you will either start with a single- or multi-target healing move and then upgrade to a stronger version that almost always also becomes multi-target. Once you know who you want your healer to be, get them going down this branch first.

During the November 2023 Indie World Showcase, it was revealed that many intriguing indie titles are coming to the Nintendo Switch over the next year. One of the show's biggest announcements was that Outer Wilds -- a critically acclaimed sci-fi game about exploring a solar system throughout repeating time loops -- is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch next month.

A Nintendo Switch port for Outer Wilds was first teased in 2021 and intended to be released during the summer of that year, but it did not make that release window. We did not hear much else about the port until now outside of a mention during one of publisher Annapurna Interactive's own showcases. An Indie World Showcase segment dedicated to the game showed some of its physics-based spacefaring gameplay in action on the Switch, and it seemed to look nice and run at a solid frame rate. Called Outer Wilds: Archaeologist Edition, this version of the game comes with the Echoes of the Eye DLC and will launch digitally on December 7. It will get a physical Switch release sometime next year.
