Game of Thrones episode 3 photos look ahead to the Battle of Winterfell

Game of Thrones | Season 8 Episode 3 | Preview (HBO)

The stage is set, the players are in position, and the second episode of HBO’s Game of Thrones ensured that many of the show’s key figures have tied up loose ends before they head into battle with the army of The Night King.

The Battle of Winterfell is nearly upon us, and HBO is keeping anticipation high with a set of photos and a brief trailer for the upcoming third episode of Game of Thrones.

The photos offers a glimpse of the battle to come from a variety of perspectives — from the fighters to the strategists.

As for the trailer, most of the major characters playing a role in the impending battle are glimpsed — or heard — in the short video, which is accompanied by the ominous title “The Dead are already here.” Everyone expects some fan-favorite characters to meet their ends in the climactic battle, but exactly who will still be standing when the dust settles remains one of the series’ most closely guarded secrets.

The premiere of Game of Thrones‘ eighth and final season on April 14 was one of the premium cable network’s most-watched episodes of any series — both legally and illegally, according to reports on how much the episode was pirated online. That high viewership reportedly continued with last weekend’s second episode, and the upcoming third episode isn’t expected to bring that trend to an end. (Although it might do exactly that to certain characters’ story arcs.)

More Game of Thrones News

After making fans wait nearly two years for the show’s final season, Game of Thrones is wrapping up its eight-year run with a final, six-episode season that pits the surviving characters against the armies of The Night King, a terrifying figure with the power to reanimate the dead and bend their wills to his own.

Although the show’s series finale will air in May, that won’t be the end of the saga inspired by author George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy novels. A Game of Thrones prequel series is currently in the works with Kingsman: The Secret Service and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children screenwriter Jane Goldman attached as head writer and showrunner, with Martin himself also involved. The still-untitled series will be set thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones and feature two-time Oscar nominee Naomi Watts in a lead role.

Episode 3 of Game of Thrones season 8 will air 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on Sunday, April 21, on HBO.

And Just Like That… season 2, episode 3 release date, time, channel, and plot
Carrie listens to a broadcast in And Just Like That.

After six successful seasons and two terrible movies, the Sex and the City universe expanded with the addition of And Just Like That..., which serves as a sequel and series revival. Premiering in 2021, And Just Like That... reintroduced the world to Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis), three of the leading women in Sex and the City. The original series focused on the friendship, sex lives, and social issues of these then-thirtysomethings living in New York City.

And Just Like That... , however, picks up 11 years after Sex and the City 2, with Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte all in their 50s. Despite the fact that they're older, the same friendship, fashion, and relationship drama are still as present as ever. And Just Like That... became Max's most-watched series debut at the time of its December 2021 premiere. Originally conceived as a miniseries, the overwhelming popularity led to a season 2 renewal. The Red Wedding at 10: How the groundbreaking episode changed Game of Thrones forever
Robb Stark's body with his direwolf's head in Game of Thrones.

The so-called Golden Age of Television reached its undeniable zenith during the 2010s. Shows like Mad Men, Veep, Breaking Bad, and Stranger Things took TV to new and exciting levels of visual and narrative quality. However, no show had more influence or acclaim throughout the 2010s than Game of Thrones. The HBO juggernaut became synonymous with prestige television, delivering a perfect mix of political intrigue, high fantasy, and sex that became irresistible for critics and audiences.

Game of Thrones wasn't an instant success; it was only in season 3 that the show became the must-see show on television. Two events helped the show achieve this elusive reputation. The first was Daenerys' sacking of Astapor in the fourth episode, And Now His Watch Has Ended. The second is, of course, the Red Wedding. The episode it was featured in, The Rains of Castamere, changed the series' course, altering the fate of multiple characters and radically shifting the power balance between the noble houses of Westeros. The groundbreaking episode showcased Game of Thrones operating at full strength, and, as a result, allowed audiences to truly understand what kind of show they were watching.
