CES 2006 Profile: Dell

Well known computer manufacturer Dell was busy at CES 2006 with three big product announcements. These announcements will add to Dell’s line up a high performance gaming computer, a widescreen entertainment focused notebook and a 30” flat panel monitor.

Dell’s new high performance gaming computer is the limited edition XPS 600 Renegade. Due to be available in the spring of this year, each unit is custom painted by car artwork specialist Mike Lavallee. Features of the XPS 600 Renegade will include an Intel Extreme Edition dual-core processor over-clocked to 4.26GHz, dual Nvidia GeForce 7800 graphics cards with quad scalable link interface technology, up to 20GB of 667MHz DD2 low-latency memory, internal memory storage options ranging up to a 500GB capacity drive and Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2.

Also rolling out of Dell’s facilities is the new Inspiron E1705, an Intel dual-core processor desktop replacement style notebook. This 17” monster with a starting price of $2,299 has a 256MB Nvidia GeForce Go 7800 graphics card, optional LCD technology which provides for a brighter, high contrast screen, one touch button access to media files, an integrated 5-in-1 media card reader, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 and up to 2GB of 667MHz dual-channel DDR2 memory.

Rounding out Dell’s CES announcements is the $2,199 Widescreen UltraSharp 3007WFP flat panel monitor. This 30” display offers up a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1600 (WQXGA), the ability to view Web pages or documents side by side, an integrated 9-in-2 media card reader, four USB 2.0 ports and dual link DVI connectivity.
