SCEA Debuts MLB ’06 The Show

Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) last week announced the release of the only officially licensed first party video baseball game by Major League Baseball Properties (MLBP), Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM) and the League’s Players Association (MLBPA). MLB ’06 The Show is now available for the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable video game systems.

MLB ’06 The Show for the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable, said SCEA, adds more than 3,000 individual player animations, including personalized stances, pitching animations, individualized swings, batting rituals and pitcher release points. Other interesting features of this game include an arcade-style mini game which pits player versus batter in a head to head, time based challenge, online gameplay as well as an online community, a rivalry mode on the PlayStation 2 version when players can set up and maintain multi-game rivalries and track stats and wireless match ups between other players on the PlayStation Portable version.

The athlete on this year’s cover of both platform titles is Boston Red Sex DH David Ortiz. Ortiz in 2004 had 91 extra base hits, 139 RBI and 41 home runs.

“With advancements to Career, Franchise and Online Modes, as well as an unrivaled broadcast simulation, MLB’06 The Show has raised the level of authenticity and realism and further solidified its position as the most true-to-life game in the market,” said Scott Rohde, director, sports product development, Sony Computer Entertainment America, in a statement. “We’re excited to provide baseball fans with an opportunity to truly feel what it’s like to play in the Big Leagues.”

PS5 Pro: news, rumored release date, price, and specs
A PS5 standing on a table, with purple lights around it.

Rumors are running rampant about a supposed PlayStation 5 Pro, or PS5 Pro for short. Just like we got a mid-generation upgrade with the PS4 Pro  during the last console cycle, many people are expecting PlayStation to release an incrementally more powerful machine to bridge the gap between the launch unit and an eventual PlayStation 6. Leaks have been coming out from some fairly credible sources, with a lot of juicy and very specific details about what a hypothetical PS5 Pro could look like. As credible as these sources may be, we do still need to take everything we see with some skepticism until Sony officially confirms that this system even exists. Until then, here are all the rumors out there regarding the PS5 Pro.
Rumored release window

A constant release window that all leaks have pointed to is sometime in Fall of 2024. That's right around the corner, probably in the September through November range, meaning we should be getting an official announcement on the console if that is indeed the plan. It appears that PS5 Pro dev kits are now in the hands of more developers, who have been asked that PS5 Pro-enhanced games be submitted for certification in August. These developments point toward a 2024 release.

How to get a gun in Another Crab’s Treasure
Kril has a gun

Another Crab's Treasure no doubt looks like a kid-friendly game, but hiding beneath its charming and cute exterior is a challenging soulslike experience that can test the mettle of genre veterans. Those who either can't or don't want to engage with such intense difficulty throughout this underwater adventure can make great use of a variety of assists. Among these is a rather shocking, but hilarious option that can completely negate nearly all of the game's challenge while providing some laughs along the way. Here's how to get a gun in Another Crab's Treasure.
How to get a gun
To give yourself a gun in Another Crab's Treasure, head over to the Settings menu. Navigate to Assist Mode at the bottom of the menu, then scroll to the bottom once more to a setting called Give Kril a Gun. Toggle this on, then back out and resume your game to find that Kril now has a massive pistol on his back in place of a shell.

This new gun on your back provides you with more than just a funny visual, though -- it actually allows you to shoot and kill any enemy in a single hit, nearly eliminating all of the challenge from the game. Additionally, if you're after trophies or achievements, the first time you shoot a crab with the gun will also unlock "This Kills the Crab."
