Samsung is getting ready to launch a pair of very thin new tablets, according to the latest rumors. The models will go under the name Galaxy Tab S2, and come with either an 8-inch screen, or a larger 9.7-inch screen. According to leaked stats, the all-metal bodies will be just 5.4mm thick, beating the current slimmest tablet out there, the 6.1mm Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet. Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab S tablets in June 2014, and is likely to reveal these sequels at the same time this year.

The flagship Tab S tablets have high-end specification sheets, and could be considered the tablet equivalents of its Galaxy S smartphone models. If the rumors are correct, it’ll play around with the screen sizes on the 2015 versions, altering them from 8.4-inches and 10.5-inches to the more traditional sizes mentioned above.

That’s not the only thing that could change either. The resolution may alter to 2,048 x 1,536 pixels, down from 2,560 x 1,600 on the Tab S machines, although they are expected to still be Super AMOLED panels. A new 64-bit Exynos processor may power the tablets, much like the Exynos 7420 found in the Galaxy S6 phone, we’d expect. It may be joined by 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory, plus a MicroSD card slot in the chassis.

Other features may include Android 5.0.2 Lollipop as the operating system, an 8-megapixel camera on the rear, a 2.1-megapixel camera on the front, plus the option of choosing either a Wi-Fi or a Wi-Fi with 4G LTE version.

The Galaxy Tab S2 tablets may launch next month, and Samsung apparently intends to put them on sale all over the world, with the U.S. Canada, Europe, China, Korea, and India all specifically mentioned in the rumors. We’ll keep you updated should more information emerge on Samsung’s new Tab S2 tablets before the official announcement.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and S Pen stylus on its screen.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is definitely one of the best smartphones on the market right now, no doubt about that. You get incredible performance with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, plenty of RAM and storage, a whopping 200MP camera, two telephoto lenses for 3x and 5x optical zoom, S Pen integration, and more. It’s certainly an impressive package.

But it’s not perfect. In fact, some weaknesses could be improved in the next version, the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Here’s what I hope to see next year.
