The Meta Quest 3 is an exceptional VR platform that can provide thousands of hours’ worth of fun in games and virtual spaces, and it’s easy to lose track of time when you’re having such a great experience.

However, wearing the headset on your face for so many hours leads to a bit of sweat, debris, and more that will occasionally need to be cleaned off. Luckily, Meta has made this process an absolute breeze, with the removal of the facial interface being about as simple as something can be. Below, we’ll tell you how to remove the facial interface and how to clean it so that you can get right back to gaming.

The Meta Quest 3’s facial interface is the black segment of the device on which you rest your head, so it’ll get dirty with extended use. Rather than attempt to clean it while the interface is attached, it’s safer and easier to detach it.

When you’re ready to clean the facial interface, grab it on the top and bottom and pull it away from the device to snap it out. It really is that easy. There are no switches or levers, it just clicks in and out — so long as it was popped in correctly to begin with.

When you’re ready to put it back in, just align the edges and push it back on until you hear it snap to ensure it has been properly reapplied.

Once you’ve got the facial interface off of your Meta Quest 3, we suggest hand-cleaning the surface using running water and some mild detergent. It’s highly recommended that you do not submerge the plastic in water and never use products like alcohol or any chemicals during the process.

When you’re done and have thoroughly rinsed the facial interface, make sure you let it air dry completely before snapping it back onto the device. Afterward, you’re good to dive back in.

With VR slowly becoming more affordable, there are a couple of great VR headsets you can snag that will give you a pretty excellent experience and won't require a high-end gaming PC to get it to run properly. For example, the Meta Quest 3 is an entirely self-contained VR device that is supported by Meta, so it has a reasonably big library and a lot of options when it comes to games and apps. Not only that, but the Meta Quest 3 has some nice upgrades, such as better lenses and a great resolution, and there is even a subscription membership that gives you access to free games. Alternatively, if you'd rather go for something a bit more budget-friendly, you could check out these Meta Quest 2 deals.

The Meta Quest 3S is official, making mixed-reality even more affordable
Meta announced the Quest 3s at Connect 2024.

At Meta Connect 2024, the company officially announced the anticipated Quest 3S, a $300 VR headset with many of the best features of the more expensive Quest 3 that launched last year. While the Quest 3 is a better headset overall, the budget model can run the same mixed-reality games, apps, and immersive VR titles.
Meta gave the Quest 3S a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chip, the best available in any Meta VR headset. That’s why it can handle big titles like Batman: Arkham Shadow and Asgard’s Wrath 2. If you buy a Quest 3S during the promotional period, Arkham Shadow is free.

It also has Touch Plus controllers without the bulky rings of the Quest 2’s controllers. If you’re upgrading from an older VR headset, you’ll enjoy more freedom of movement without worrying about clashing rings when drawing a virtual bow or putting your guard up in virtual boxing.

Meta Connect 2024 is tomorrow, which means the much-leaked Meta Quest 3S is about to be revealed (we hope). Despite the event being only hours away, however, there are still more leaks to be had.

The latest information, spotted by TechRadar, suggests that with the launch of the 3S, Meta will discount both Meta Quest 3 models and stop production of the 128GB model sometime in November.
