These aren’t photos, they’re screenshots of PS4 launch titles

The PlayStation 4 will be unleashed on the public on November 15, and with it will come over 20 games designed with Sony’s next gen system in mind. That number will grow as the launch day turns into the launch window, and the launch window yields to the first year of the PS4’s life. At the moment, there are around 140 games confirmed for the PS4 and more are sure to follow.

But for those that are planning on picking up a PS4 on launch day, when November 15 rolls around there will be at least 20 choices for you to consider when deciding what game (or games) you should take home with your new console, or download once you are set up. Other games will come out soon after, but these are the titles that will certainly be available through the Christmas season, making them some of the most important games of the year.

The first and most obvious thing you will notice when you fire up a PS4 is the upgrade in graphics. That also makes the visuals one of the easiest things to focus on with the next gen games, at least until we’ve spent some time with the consoles and the games and really tested them to see what they can do. With that in mind check out the 20 PS4 launch titles, each with an accompanying screenshot. There will be a few others available to download as well, but these are the ones we are keeping a close eye on. As with the PS4, all the games on this list will be released on November 15.

Don’t ignore Spider-Man 2’s side missions. They’re the best parts of the game

With Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 out, you might be tempted to devour Insomniac’s new superhero adventure as fast as possible like a hungry Venom. I wouldn’t blame you. The sequel’s sprawling story is a complicated web of threads that beg to be untangled. It’s tempting to zoom from mission to mission, ignoring all other side activities until New York City has been properly saved from Kraven’s wrath.

If you find yourself in that boat, consider this a PSA: Don’t skip out on Spider-Man 2’s side missions. Though they aren’t as glitzy as the main campaign, the sequel’s best moments are consistently tucked away in quieter quests that emphasize compassion and community support over comic book violence. They’re the moments that best illustrate what it truly means to be a superhero.
Community support
Just like the previous two Spider-Man games, Insomniac’s open-world take on New York City is filled with optional storylines. Early on, Peter and Miles can stop to clean up a mess left by Sandman or take up jobs as local photographers. These aren’t just empty checklists to complete; even something as simple as collecting every Spider-bot in town leads to some kind of narrative payoff that’s usually worth seeing through to the end (especially since a 100% completion only takes around 35 hours).

PS Plus members can cloud stream PS5 games in 4K later this month

PS Plus Premium is adding a new feature next month that will allow subscribers to cloud stream select PlayStation 5 games. The initial list includes heavy hitters like Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Horizon Forbidden West. Sony is targeting an October 30 launch in North America.

Cloud streaming has been one of the primary selling points of PS Plus since its relaunch last year. Subscribers can use the feature to access several games in the service's catalog, including PlayStation 3 games. The new feature will now extend that technology to newer PS5 releases, with Sony saying it plans to make "hundreds" of games streamable.

The newly redesigned PlayStation 5 is getting its own set of console covers sometime next year. Sony confirms to Digital Trends that several faceplate colors are slated to launch in 2024 but covers for the old PS5 models will not be compatible with the new systems.

One of the PS5's most unique features is its removable faceplates, which allow players to customize their console with new colors and designs. The new PS5 models will evolve that idea with a four-cover panel design that gives the system a slightly different look. Sony is already planning to make those customizable in the near future, according to a statement sent to Digital Trends.
