Dedicated fan Jamie Colliver has spent two years painstakingly recreating Final Fantasy VII inside LittleBigPlanet 2. Plenty of fans have built levels from games within Sony and Media Molecule’s game creation toolkit — World 1-1 of Super Mario Bros. is inevitably one of the first things to go up with a new engine — but this is easily one of the most ambitious projects ever completed.
Colliver condensed the epic roleplaying game into 31 levels, including every cut scene, materia, every character and boss, a world map, and a combat system complete with Limit Breaks. The combat is a little clunky, but that can be easily overlooked given what an enormous work this is. You can check out the entire thing divided into over 100 videos on Colliver’s YouTube channel.
Check out the Aeris church scene above for a sample. You can play it for yourself in LittleBigPlanet 2 or LittleBigPlanet 3, which just came out for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, or see everything at the YouTube link.
