The last of the three Grand Theft Auto games to come on the PS2 and Xbox era of consoles is considered by many to be the absolute best of the trilogy. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which is in no subtle way meant to represent Los Angeles, was designed to be the best playground possible for the street gang adventures of protagonist CJ as he is swept into a plot that will bring him across multiple regions within San Andreas, including Los Santos, San Fierro, and Las Venturas. This game is where RockStar really started to draw direct parallels between the events and characters in game and real-world events.

As serious and enthralling as the main plot of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – Definitive Edition is, this new and improved version doesn’t forget what kept so many people coming back to it for hours after the credits rolled. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition is a package that features remasters of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It was first released for PC and consoles in late 2021. Although the ports were derided for having a plethora of technical problems at launch, they have improved since then. Now, Netflix is making a major play by bringing these remastered GTA games to the service around the same time a Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer is expected to drop.

Ever since the GTA franchise became what it is today with Grand Theft Auto 3, Rockstar has packed their worlds full of colorful and rich characters. While we've only been able to control male characters up until now (though that is set to change if the GTA 6 rumors are true), they have all had distinct and interesting personalities and stories. Carl 'CJ' Johnson -- GTA: San Andreas

Good old Carl Johnson, better known as CJ, is way more than just a meme. San Andreas was the second game in the series to really focus on character in a major way, and the team nailed it with their lead. Not only was the entire cast filled with bonafide actors, but CJ's personal story as a gang member whose mother is murdered was far more nuanced and emotional than the media would lead you to believe. The real draw was the relationship CJ had with the main antagonist Officer Tenpenny (who may or may not be mentioned later on). This game set the standard for how Rockstar would reveal more about the characters and world through casual conversation throughout the story.
