We recently learned that Asus has publicly revealed its newest tablet design. According to Android Authority, the new tablet, which thus far has been referred to as the Memo Pad 10, is a 10-inch model, offering three additional images over its predecessor, the Nexus 7. The official announcement was made at the recent Thailand Mobile Expo.
The official name for the tablet is now known to be the Asus Memo Pad Smart ME301T. (Doesn’t really roll off the tongue, does it now?) Specs for the device were also unveiled at the event. It will feature:
- Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
- 10.1-inch display with a 1,280 x 800 pixel resolution
- A disappointingly little 16 GB of storage (we hope they will offer models with larger capacities)
- 5-megapixel rear-facing and 1.2 megapixel front-facing cameras (again, kind of disappointing)
- 1GB of RAM
- Quad-core 1.2GHz Tegra 3 processor
- microSD and Micro HDMI slots
At the Thailand Mobile Expo, Asus announced that the tablet will retail for around $365, which may help sales, especially considering the previously leaked price was nearly $100 more, at $460. The tablet is also supposed to be made available in crystal white, fuchsia pink, and midnight blue, ideal for those who prefer to personalize their devices without having to use a case.
Despite the fact that the company did officially announce the tablet, there’s no word yet as to when the official roll-out will take place, or to which markets it will be introduced to first. Asus is keeping it very hush hush until the upcoming Mobile World Congress, so we’ll be waiting with baited breath.
