Samsung’s Propel Pro Remembers Everyone Who Has Ever Touched it

Samsung

We’ve made no secret of our disdain for fingerprint-collecting plastics in the past, and have never been shy about pointing it out in the worst offenders, but Samsung’s Propel Pro takes this dirty little trend its peak. This thing just looks gross.

We spied the new Propel – one of the six affordable new QWERTY phones available on AT&T – at Samsung’s booth. And though it has a sort of sophisticated-looking mirror finish from afar, getting close reveals it’s really just a patchwork of greasy prints. Even worse, the finish somehow imbues them with a reflected rainbow tint that makes the effect even more apparent. Woof.

It’s a shame, considering we really liked the original Propel. This one still has the potential to be much more capable, but certainly not prettier.

Why I ditched my iPhone 15 Pro for the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

This is not another “lifelong iPhone user tries Android” story. I use and review all kinds of phones, and I prefer the flexibility of Android. That said, I’ve been on the iPhone 15 Pro since its launch — for two reasons. First, I had been getting the iPhone 14 Pro Max-level battery life on it. Second, I like the stability of social media apps like Instagram and X (formerly Twitter). But the experience has been downgrading for a while now.

Samsung's "AI phone," the Galaxy S24 Ultra, tackles these two issues and gives me some extra features that I didn’t think would be important for me. It’s been a surprisingly fun experience. Here’s why I shifted to the Galaxy S24 Ultra from the iPhone 15 Pro and decided to stay on it. And no, it has nothing to do with AI.
