Hop trailer

Following in the wake left by Alvin and the Chipmunks, Universal has returned to the live-action mixed with CGI genre with the help of Despicable Me creators Illumination Entertainment, to present the live-action and CGI  Hop.

Hop is the story of E.B. (voiced by Russell Brand), the son of the Easter Bunny, and only heir to the throne. The date has come for E.B. to step up and take over the family business, but rather than take on the role he was born into, E.B. decides to head to Hollywood to try his luck as a drummer. When he gets there, he is hit by a car driven by Fred (James Marsden). E.B. fakes serious injuries and Fred takes him into his house, unaware that the bunny is an epically bad house guest.

Directed by Tim Hill (Alvin and the Chipmunks, Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties), Hop also stars the Hugh Laurie (voice), Elizabeth Perkins, Chelsea Handler and David Hasselhoff. Look for it on April 1.

HBO drops 2 dueling trailers for House of the Dragon season 2
A man preps for battle in House of the Dragon season 2.

Why weren't there any dragons at the beginning of Game of Thrones? It's largely because of the events depicted in the prequel series, House of the Dragon. Despite having control over the seven kingdoms of Westeros, the Targaryen family just couldn't stop themselves from destroying each other. The march to war unfolded over many years in season 1, but now there's only room for one person on the Iron Throne. The just-released first two trailers for House of the Dragon season 2 invite viewers to pick a side between the Black and the Green.

The Acolyte’s first trailer embraces the Dark Side of Star Wars
Amandla Stenberg in The Acolyte.

Since the launch of Disney+ in 2019, there have been four live-action Star Wars series, including The Mandalorian and Andor. But the one thing that each of those shows had in common was that they followed the hero of the story. This summer, The Acolyte is flipping the switch on that by putting the spotlight on Mae (Amandla Stenberg), a former Padawan in the Jedi Order who seems to have quite a grudge against her onetime masters. That may be why Mae is attacking and apparently killing Jedi with knives in the first trailer for The Acolyte.

Squid Game's Lee Jung-jae is prominently featured in the trailer as Jedi Master Sol, the teacher of the younglings in the Jedi Temple. Presumably, the girl who sees fire in her visions is a younger version of Mae. The trailer doesn't fully explain why Mae is on such a murderous rampage, but another character, Mother Aniseya (Jodie Turner-Smith), suggests that it's not about good or evil. It's about power.
