It seems musicians were all over Instagram in 2015. Taylor Swift, Beyonce, and Selena Gomez not only appeared in the most popular music categories, but were also included among the app’s most popular posts of the year, reports Us Weekly.
In a category that was dominated by women — the entire top 10 was made up of posts by female celebrities — the leading lady was a non-musician. Kendall Jenner’s photo showing her in a white gown with locks of her hair placed in the shape of hearts was the most popular post of 2015, garnering 3.2 million likes and over 143,000 comments.
The other most-liked images included Swift posing next to the large bouquet of flowers sent to her by Kanye West, Gomez’s front-seat selfie, and Kendall’s sister Kylie’s high-school graduation picture. The latter Jenner has had a tumultuous year on social media, being accused of appropriating “black culture” — following her image showing her hair in cornrows — and this incident.
There were selfies galore on the list. Kendall Jenner’s thank-you selfie, dedicated to her fans for helping her reach the 20 million followers milestone, placed at number nine. Additionally, there were several images of Swift goofing around with her beloved cats Olivia and Meredith (named after characters from her favorites shows, Law & Order: Special Victims and Grey’s Anatomy).
Swift made the most appearances on the list — a total of five — including an image of her getting a piggy back ride from her current boyfriend, music DJ Calvin Harris. Beyonce also made the cut with her photo of herself and daughter, Blue Ivy, pictured in the singer’s arms at 11 months.
