A new trailer on the Xbox dashboard confirms that the open beta for Bungie’s heavily-hyped shooter Destiny arrives on Xbox 360 and Xbox One sometime in late July (via Videogamer). That means Xbox users will be able to get in on the action one to two weeks after the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 beta begins on July 17.

To join the beta, you need to pre-order the game from a participating retailer and register the supplied code. You also need to be an Xbox Live Gold subscriber in order to take part.

Destiny launches in full on September 9 for PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

Destiny 2 is an extremely dense game. Before today, I'd played it for around 15 hours and already had that message imprinted deep in my brain. There's a ridiculous amount of content in this game, so many locations to visit and nonplayable characters to talk to. For a new player, it's all overwhelming. It's why I struggled to start playing the game to begin with. It floods you with so many icons and pop-ups that you'll immediately want a simpler experience.
