It’s the Game of Thrones intro meets The Legend of Zelda: Enough said

Game of Thrones, Legend of Zelda Intro Teaser - Game of Hyrule Opening
Nintendo may have denied rumors that Netflix is developing a Game of Thrones-style television series adaptation of The Legend of Zelda, but that hasn’t stopped one exceptionally talented fan from creating a little taste of what that might look like when interpreted very literally.

YouTuber Megasteakman created this fantastic CG opening sequence for Game of Hyrule, an imitation of the iconic opening credits for HBO’s Game of Thrones, but using the map from the 1991 SNES classic, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. The visuals are pitch-perfect, and fans of the series will recognize plenty of locations from one of its defining games.

Seriously, you need to see this. The intro to Game of Thrones is one of the best parts of each episode of the acclaimed series, and our jaws dropped when we saw this adaptation.

We’re most impressed by the music, which seamlessly merges the theme songs from Game of Thrones and The Legend of Zelda. Both songs are effective earworms on their own, combining into a truly epic cocktail. Kudos to Mattia Cupelli, to whom Megasteakman attributes the composition.

The fifth season of Game of Thrones premieres this coming Sunday, April 12 on HBO. The next Legend of Zelda game is currently in development for Wii U, and is slated to release sometime in 2016. Whether or not an actual Legend of Zelda TV series will ever grace our many Netflix screens, we can only wonder, at this point.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s fuse ability reinvents the open-world game
Link fights a Construct with a fused weapon in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom got a new lengthy gameplay video today, and it revealed many of Link's new abilities. He can now fuse objects together to create weapons and vehicles, as well as rewind objects and ascend through ceilings.

While Tears of the Kingdom was first revealed back in June 2019, we didn't even know the game's official name until last September, nor did we see much gameplay before the Nintendo Direct in February. As such, this gameplay showcase was really our first true deep dive into the game and its features. While many of the core mechanics and open-world setup are somewhat reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (weapon degradation is returning), some key differences do stand out, namely Link's ability to fuse items.

Three League of Legends indie game spinoffs will release in 2023
Key art highlighting Riot Forge's three League of Legends spinoffs in 2023.

Riot Forge, Riot Games' indie publisher focused on making League of Legends spinoffs with smaller teams, unveiled its 2023 lineup today. We learned about The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story, an action RPG from the developers of indie gem Moonlighter, for the first time, and Riot Games revealed more specific release windows for Convergence: A League of Legends Story and Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story.
The first of these games to release will be Digital Sun's The Mageseeker, which comes out this spring. The game focuses on League of Legends champion Sylas, revolutionary fighting back against the kingdom of Demacia for taking advantage of mages. We only see a little bit of gameplay in Riot Forge's 2023 lineup trailer, but it definitely looks somewhat similar to Moonlighter with its isometric action centered around Sylas' change and magical abilities.
Riot Forge Games 2023 | The Year Ahead Trailer
The next Riot Forge game to come out will be Double Stallion Games' Convergence sometime this summer. The game is a 2D platformer with time-based platforming and combat that follows Ekko, a character you'll recognize if you watched Arcane. Finally, Song of Nunu will launch this fall. It's a third-person adventure game from Tequila Works, a developer that's mastered that formula with titles like Rime and Gylt. It follows a young boy named Nunu and his yeti Willump as they search for Nunu's mother, so this game is bound to pack an emotional punch.
While only two games have come from Riot Forge so far, its catalog of games finally seems to be ramping up this year. The Mageseeker, Convergence, and Song of Nunu will all be released for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch over the course of 2023.
