Yamaha Digital Sound Projector Gets an Upgrade

Yamaha YSP-5100

Yamaha gives its Digital Sound Projector YSP series an upgrade with the YSP-5100.

Yamaha has released another update for its Digital Sound Projector YSP. This latest installment is the YSP-5100, an update of the recently released YSP-4100—but we’re not complaining—because every generation just keeps getting better. The YSP-5100 offers better bass quality and a better virtual surround sound for smaller rooms and areas. There are still more similarities than differences with the YSP-5100 and its predecessor such as the same 55W power rating and same support for HD audio like Dolby, TrueHD, and DTS-HD.  The main difference is that the YSP-5100 has a much richer sound quality and, as we mentioned before, a definite improvement in its bass.

The update is not yet available in the U.S., but the YSP-5100 will be out in Japan later this month for the equivalent of $2,280.

  1. Ian Bell at 9:26am 3rd December 2009 Yamaha seems to have the soundbar market owned. They are the best looking and sounding that I have tried. Any guess as to what the price might be?
