The French company’s top executives are currently evaluating four different models that could be sold alongside the limited-edition, 1,500-horsepower Chiron. One of them is a high-end super-sedan similar to the on-again, off-again Galibier concept (pictured) that debuted in 2009, according to CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer. Although he refused to talk about the others, insiders familiar with the company’s plans told Australian website Drive that executives are also looking at an SUV aimed at the upcoming Rolls-Royce Cullinan and the Lamborghini Urus, an all-electric car, as well as a smaller supercar positioned below the Chiron.
The second model will be markedly more affordable than the Chiron, in a bid to lure new buyers to the brand, but don’t expect Bugatti to go mainstream in order to chase volume. The company will continue to build powerful, high-end cars aimed at the world’s most discerning motorists.
Dürheimer opined that his personal favorite is the Galibier, which was well received by the public, potential buyers, and the press when it broke cover.
“I have some technological ideas for the next car, for the Galiber, that I was following up hard when I was at Bugatti the first time. I’m always walking around motor shows checking what the luxury field tells me. Not only in terms of luxury, but in technology,” he said in a recent interview.

When Bugatti will decide which segment it will break into next is up in the air. However, executives have affirmed that the Chiron won’t spawn an open-air model with a targa roof. The news comes as a surprise because the Veyron, the Chiron’s vaunted predecessor, was available as a convertible that was popular in key markets such as the United States.
