Sony announced its next round of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers, and it’s headlined by Control: Ultimate Edition. Subscribers also get access to the new free multiplayer title Destruction AllStars.
Control is a supernatural third-person shooter that gained widespread acclaim when it launched in 2019. The game was nominated for multiple categories at the 2019 Game Awards, including Game of the Year. Both PS4 and PS5 owners can get the Ultimate Edition, which includes the game’s DLC, for free starting Tuesday, February 2.
It’s a significant addition, as Control‘s transition from past consoles to new ones has been shaky. Developer Remedy Entertainment confirmed that players who owned the game on PS4 or Xbox One would not be able to upgrade to the game’s next-gen counterpart and would need to rebuy the title. Many other studios like Ubisoft and EA chose to give players free next-gen upgrades of their games. Now, the game will be available on both Xbox Game Pass and PS Plus, meaning subscribers didn’t necessarily need to rebuy the game after all.

Rounding out the list of new additions is Concrete Genie, which will be available for PS4 only. The graffiti puzzle game features PlayStation VR support.
Concrete Genie and Control will be available to download from February 2 to March 1. Destruction AllStars will be free on the service longer, leaving on April 5.
