Most lists of the best PS5 games are full of FPS games, open-world games, and RPGs. As much as we love those genres, sports games never seem to get the praise they deserve. Sports have always been wildly popular, and some of the first video games developed were attempting to simulate them. Sports games are bigger than ever today, covering almost every sport in the world with some of the best graphics on PS5.

Whether you’re biding time for an upcoming PS5 game or just want a fun multiplayer title, here are the best sports games on PS5. These cover just about every major sport, including football, baseball, soccer, basketball, and more.

MMA is a brutal sport, and that physicality is expertly captured by UFC 5. Whether you’re looking to pin down your opponent for some “ground and pound” or throw punches from a distance, the game does a great job of perfecting each fighting style. There have also been re-works to takedowns and clinch control, which now offer more dynamic animations and better mimic the sport. The dynamic damage system makes every hit you give and take feel all the more real.

OlliOlli World feels more like an arcade game than a sports game. You’ll dive into a series of colorful levels, each one filled with more obstacles, hazards, and challenges than the last. As you complete these missions, you’ll unlock new gear to help customize your character. The key to success is fast reflexes and learning every move in your skillset — failure to ollie, grind, or kickflip at the right time typically results in a less-than-perfect run.

Besides the new name, this entry adds a new 5v5 Rush mode and even more options for the IQ tactical control, but the core is the same tight and dynamic soccer simulation. Even without the name, FC is still the best soccer game you can find on the PS5.

The AI game-dev boom has a dark side: fewer jobs for the people starting out
Solo creators are thriving with tools like Claude Code and Copilot, but entry-level game roles are disappearing.

AI is making it easier than ever for a single person to build a game. That sounds like a win for creativity, and in many ways, it absolutely is. But there is a catch. As generative AI tools help solo developers and small studios do more with fewer people, the same shift is making life tougher for writers, artists, concept creators, and junior programmers trying to break into the gaming industry.
