Cenega Gets a NecroVision

Cenega Gets a NecroVision

Video game publishing label Cenega Publishing announced earlier this week they’d inked a deal with video game developer The Farm 51 to publish NecroVision, a first person action shooter, for the PC. The title is due out sometime in 2008.

NecroVision, according to Cenega Publishing, takes "place in a variety of locations from battlefields of World War I to much darker and brutal underground world of vampires and demons. Sceneries range from realistic to dream-like, opponents from enemy troops to fantasy creatures – old fashion look and style of the game is going to remind the world setting from the Lovecraft’s horrors and seamlessly mix the war shooter elements into it. Player will fight enemies using environments, powerful and evil artifacts, vampire technology, and authentic WWI era weapons."

Features of the game include explosive fights, tough boss battles, a mix of realistic and fantasy weapons, interactive elements throughout the game and a dark storyline.

The Farm 51 includes industry veterans and gamers whose previous individual credits, among others, include work on the Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and Painkiller franchises.

It’s a somewhat out-of-character release for Ubisoft, as it’s a 2D platformer action-roguelike developed by an indie studio outside of the company, and it will initially release into early access. Though it's an atypical release, it's one to get excited about. After going hands-on with it prior to its announcement today, The Rogue Prince of Persia is already a blast.

Horror indie game hit Dredge is getting a surprise film adaptation
A boat sails through a passage in Dredge.

Black Salt Games and Story Kitchen announced their intention to make a movie based on the 2023 horror indie game hit Dredge.

Story Kitchen is one of the media production companies behind the recent push for film and TV adaptations of video games. The Sonic the Hedgehog movies and upcoming Netflix show Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft are its biggest successes in actually getting these adaptations made, but it also has multimedia projects in the works based on games like Streets of Rage, Toejam & Earl, It Takes Two, and Disco Elysium. It's adding a horror movie based on Dredge to that list because Story Kitchen thinks the game has "a captivatingly eerie and profoundly rich story that had us completely hooked from the very beginning."
