Cyber Monday accessory sale: Apple Pencil, Magic Mouse, and more get deals

This story is part of Digital Trends' Cyber Monday coverage 2024

It’s not often at all that we see deep discounts on Apple products, but Cyber Monday has brought us some substantial discounts across all types of Apple-branded stuff, and not just MacBooks, Apple Watches, or iPhones. Amazon has slashed up to 25% off select Apple accessories for the biggest online shopping day of the year.

The Apple Pencil gets a $20 price cut, bringing its price down from $99 to $79: the Magic Mouse 2 is also discounted $20, bringing its price down to $59. If you’re looking for a new keyboard for your Mac, the wireless Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad is marked down from $129 to $99.

As far as we’ve seen, these are the cheapest prices yet for any sale so far, so we’d recommend taking advantage of the sales as soon as possible. We’re not sure when the promotional prices end, but they should be good through the end of Cyber Monday and possibly into Cyber Week — but we can’t guarantee the latter.

One word of caution: The Apple Pencil here is the first-generation model. The second-generation model can be found here and is on sale for $119 for Cyber Monday. Keep in mind that pencil is only compatible with newer iPads — if you have an older model, you’ll need to use the first generation pencil.

There isn’t a real dramatic difference between the two; the newer model features a more traditional pencil-like design and can detect pressure a whole lot better to adjust the way your ink draws on the screen. Otherwise, you’ll be fine using the original Apple Pencil for most drawing and writing applications. We’ve used both versions of the Apple Pencil, and haven’t had issues with either — although pairing was sometimes a little wonky if we allowed the Pencil to completely run out of charge. Just don’t let that happen and you’ll be fine.

Both the Magic Mouse and Keyboard in this sale are the most current models of either and a good pickup for laptop owners, or as a replacement if your current keyboard and mouse are showing their age.

The great deals extend to other Apple products too, and there are plenty to check out as Cyber Monday comes to an end,

This RTX 3070 gaming laptop deal for $1,000 officially wins Cyber Monday
Two models of the Asus TUF Dash against graphics on a background.

If you're shopping for a gaming laptop under $1,000, you know what to expect. An RTX 3050 or 3050 Ti in a very thick chassis. Well, that's where this Cyber Monday deal from Best Buy exceeds my expectations for what gaming laptops at this price can be.

The deal is for an Asus TUF Dash, which normally sells for $1,500. Thanks to a discount of $500, though, this powerful gaming laptop now lands just under $1,000. That's an incredible value, considering it packs an RTX 3070 inside. And that GPU really does make all the difference in game performance.

Hackers’ Cyber Monday deals will be unbelievably good
An Illustration shows a programmer busy with a laptop and several monitors.

Cyber Monday is one of the biggest shopping days of the year, following Black Friday, and since the reason for the sale day is to push online shopping, you should be particularly wary about hackers creating fake deals that seem unbelievably good. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Despite our best instincts, it's hard to pass up a huge discount on an exciting present and as the year starts winding down to the end, the pressure is on to find a nice gift to give your loved ones for the holidays. This adds up to a perfect recipe for hackers to take advantage of eager shoppers with an enticing bargain.

Modder tries to fix Apple’s unfixable Magic Mouse
YouTuber Matt Benedetto holding the Magic Mouse and his custom sleeve for it.

There's no way to fix the Magic Mouse, as Matty Benedetto from Unnecessary Inventions recently discovered. The YouTuber has made all kinds of interesting (if impractical) accessories and devices. The amount of creativity on display in his videos is something to behold, but not even he can work around the fatal flaw of Apple's Magic Mouse.

For those unfamiliar, the Magic Mouse is Apple's premier mouse solution for the Mac. It includes a glass top, supports swipe gestures, and has a rechargeable battery. The downside? The Lightning port to charge it is on the bottom of the device. That means users have to flip the mouse to the side and plug it in, making it functionally useless while it's charging.
