First of all, building your own PC is probably the most cost-efficient method of getting a new computer. There are some trade-offs, of course, and this is not necessarily for beginners or new PC users, but it’s definitely a path to affordability. On top of this, it’s a path to self-reliance. If you’re someone who hates depending on a computer shop or technician to tell you what’s wrong with your computer, and charge you for it, building a computer can cut down on this problem. Having built it, chances are you’ll know what’s wrong with it and how to fix it.

That said, the best reason to build your own PC is access to the best quality hardware. When you buy a pre-built machine, you’re committed to whatever parts they’ve chosen for you (upgrades aren’t always easy, if available at all). When you build your own, it’s you who chooses the processor, the graphics card, the SSD storage, the RAM, and the monitor. You are a slave to no man, corporation, or store when you build your own PC. In this sale, there’s amazingly fast AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-core, 24-thread unlocked desktop processor with Wraith Prism LED Cooler, for only $429. That’s by far the most expensive internal part of any computer, and they don’t come much faster. Add to this 16GB RAM from Corsair for $63 and 2TB Hard Drive from Seagate BarraCuda for $55 and you’re most of the way to an absolutely amazing machine for less than $550.

These are the kinds of parts that can build an efficient gaming monster or a well-rounded home computer that will allow you to game, work, and do everyday tasks all at once. Moreover, when building your own PC, you’re almost always guaranteed better warranties on the hardware components than if you bought pre-built. It’s not only peace of mind, it’s more cost-efficient, too. On top of this, building your own PC leaves the door open to easier upgrades. If the games or software you’re using start to weigh on your machine, or a cooler processor emerges (literally cooler; keeping your processor from overheating the computer is a big job), you can switch it out easily. It’s all up to you! You can even choose your own operating system, which is the icing on the cake.

Best external hard drive deals: Portable SSDs, game drives & more

In a similar vein, it's frustrating that some of the best phones on the market don't even come with a lot of internal space, while most laptop deals you take advantage of also likely will land you with less than 1TB of storage. If you decide internal storage will fit your needs better, check out SSD deals, or PS5 SSD deals for your gaming needs.

Amazon Prime Day 2024: Amazon confirms the shopping holiday for July

Amazon has confirmed another Prime Day for July 2024. Exact dates for Prime Day 2024 have not been announced yet. This year marks the tenth anniversary of Amazon's massive shopping holiday.

After ten years of Prime Day, this confirmation might seem a little obvious, like confirming that Halloween will happen again this year. But the dates for Prime Day shift slightly every year, and sometimes Amazon announces a second Prime Day in the fall. Some recent Prime Days have taken place in late June, so this announcement confirms a later-than-usual date. It's likely that we won't know the exact Prime Day 2024 date until a few weeks before it starts, perhaps in mid June.
