With its massive pool of players, Fortnite must stay relevant with updates, unlocks, and cosmetics. From dance moves to flashy skins, there’s no shortage of flair to show off. These items can be obtained via Fortnite’s battle pass or purchased from the store with V-Bucks, Fortnite’s in-game currency.

The battle pass

V-Bucks are the key to looking good in Fortnite; however, they do come with a price of their own. Players can always open their wallets and dump small amounts of real money into the game, but we’re focusing on how players can earn V-Bucks without breaking the bank.

Fortnite features a battle pass unique to each season. The pass will cost players 950 V-Bucks to fully unlock at the beginning of each season. This works similarly to the battle pass in Call of Duty: Warzone. You can level up the battle pass by earning XP in-game and completing challenge missions.

Completing the battle pass will net you about 1,500 V-Bucks, which is plenty to buy next season’s pass. However, players are now left with 550 V-Bucks to spend. Unfortunately, the most appealing (legendary) items will cost upwards of 2,000 V-Bucks. Patient players will accept the grind and are advised to bank their V-Bucks until they have enough to buy the skin they truly desire. Completing the battle pass will always unlock free cosmetics as well, so you can at least flair up your character without dipping into your V-Bucks saving account.

Fortnite: Save the World

If you’ve played Fortnite since day one, you’ll remember the game only being in its beta stage. Battle royal was the only playable mode as this lingering “zombie” mode remained locked to players. Save the World is that mode. It’s a co-op PvE experience where players fend off hordes of Fortnite zombies while they loot, build, and level up.

Fortnite: Save the World is not free to play. It currently runs for $39.99 but could see a sale price as the holiday season approaches. This paid mode will grant you a daily V-Buck login bonus and offers several challenges to complete in-game. Completion of these challenges will reward you with V-Bucks. The catch to Save the World is obviously the $40 price tag that accompanies it. However, if you are a dedicated Fortnite player, that investment will prove worth it in the long run. Combine what you earn in Save the World with what you’ve banked from completing the battle pass, and you’ll be well on your way to unlocking the skins and dance moves you so badly desire.

Avoiding scams

Say NO to scams!

Unfortunately, there are troves of V-Buck scams all over the internet. Epic has made it very clear that any service not directly connected to Epic is 100% a scam. They will request your credit card info, account info, and even some unrelated personal info. Do NOT under any circumstance fall for it. There’s no cosmetic item in Fortnite worth having your identity stolen over. It’s also important to note that players participating in these scams can be on the receiving end of a permanent ban from Fortnite.

Buying V-Bucks (the safe way)

If you’ve decided that grinding out free V-Bucks isn’t for you, buying them directly from the Fortnite store is always an option. Prices and deals continuously fluctuate in Fortnite. Consult the below image for Season 5’s current V-Buck prices:

Clearly, buying in bulk will earn you the best bang for your V-Bucks. Don’t forget about the special Disney+ promotion as well. Any purchase made with real money until December 31 will get you up to two months of Disney+ for free!

The most common Xbox Series X problems and how to fix them
Xbox Series X

Like any other consoles, the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S aren't without issues. Even after several years on the market giving Microsoft time to push out updates and fixes, there are still some issues that can crop up.

How to get Sussur Bloom in Baldur’s Gate 3
A Baldur's Gate 3 character lights the way.

Baldur's Gate 3 is almost as much of a loot-based game as it is a CRPG. While roaming around with your party, or your friends playing co-op, you will be bombarded with things to collect. There will be valuable things like new weapons, armor, and scrolls, but even more random things like plants and general debris. Eventually, your eyes might start to glaze over these random, seemingly useless items, but there are some, in particular, you shouldn't overlook. The Sussur Blooms are far from useless, but also quite rare. These have a very important use, so follow along to learn where you can find this special plant in Baldur's Gate 3.
Where to find Sussur Bloom

The Sussur Bloom is native to the dangerous Underdark area located beneath the Blighted Village. There are multiple ways into this zone, however the most convenient for collecting this bloom is to go in via the Zhentarim Hideout or Defiled Temple. Locate the massive glowing tree outside of the Arcane Tower(you literally can't miss it) and walk around its base to scoop up two Sussur Blooms. Make sure you hold left alt to highlight all interactables in the area to easily spot these plants in the dark.

Is Fortnite down? Updates and matchmaking status on July 26
Characters including Optimus Prime from Fortnite.

Is Fortnite down right now? A quick look on Twitter, as well as a message in-game, suggest that some players will have trouble getting into a match of the popular royale today, July 26.
For a multiplayer, live-service game like Fortnite, the status of the servers make or breaks the experience. The game is basically unplayable if the game goes down. That's why server issues happening today are frustrating for lots of Fortnite players, although it doesn't seem like everyone is affected.
Some players currently can't even log into the game, but if you do, a message indicating there are issues does appear in the lobby menu. "Matchmaking issues: Matchmaking is currently experiencing issues, and we are working to resolve them," the message says. Tweets from the official Fortnite Status Twitter also state that Epic Games is investigating issues players currently have with logging in, matchmaking, and using push-to-talk. That said, Fortnite's developers are "investigating a fix" and will "provide an update when this is resolved."
So, if you're planning on playing Fortnite today, know that you might run into some server issues while logging in or matchmaking. These problems don't seem to impact all players, though, as I was able to successfully get into three matches during this period.
If Fortnite is down for you, there isn't a lot you can do other than make sure the game is fully updated and that your platform's internet connection is stable. Epic Games will likely release a fix for these issues soon, and after that, everyone's Fortnite experience should be back to normal.
Fortnite is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
