Nightwing a playable character in Batman: Arkham City

The complete list of trophies for Batman: Arkham City has been released courtesy of PS3Trophies.org, and among the spoilers inherent with all trophy/achievement lists, two for one character stood out. Listed as an add-on is the “Nightwing DLC,” which would make him the fourth playable character in Batman: Arkham City.

The former Boy Wonder turned superhero will be available as a DLC, according to the trophy list. The requirements for the Nightwing trophies are identical to those of another DLC character, Robin, who will be available to purchase or as a Best Buy pre-order.

Both Catwoman and Robin have a distinctly different fighting style from Batman, so it would make sense that Nightwing would as well. The character is still unofficial, so no word yet on when he would be available to download, or how much that DLC might cost.

Also on the trophy list was a Catwoman DLC. Catwoman has long been planned and announced as a playable character, and a section of the game played as Catwoman was even displayed at E3. With the trophies for Catwoman specifically available only through the DLC, that may signify a code included with the game, possibly as a deterrent to buying it used.

Batman: Arkham City will be released on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 18.

Avowed is the rare game that lets me respect NPCs’ privacy
A masked figure in Avowed. The mask looks like it's made of gold, it has glowing red eyes, and there's a hood over its head.

Even in the best RPGs, I can never escape the knowledge that everything is there in service of me as the player. There's always a level of dissonance I need to accept in these games for things like how a person on the street is willing to tell a complete stranger their life story and ask them to help with some personal or dangerous task. I appreciate there being no clean way to naturally introduce compelling side quests that feel natural in a game, but the way I am constantly invited into the most private moments of some character's lives on a whim has never sat well with me.

The early side quests in Avowed didn't appear to break this mold at first. I was still approaching strangers on the street and bulldozing my way into their lives to play the hero, but one standout early quest breaks that idea to handle a sensitive topic with the discretion it deserves.
Trouble in Paradis
Before entering the first main city in Avowed I sampled a handful of side quests out in the open-world. Each one had a fun or interesting narrative tied to it, and maybe an opportunity at the end for my character to influence the lives of the people involved moving forward. This is standard stuff for modern RPGs, but I was feeling that familiar sense of the game world revolving around me rather than it being a world that would exist with or without me.

The third and fourth chapters of Deltarune are still on the way
One of the main characters from Deltarune Chapter 1.

Toby Fox, the mind behind the acclaimed Undertale, announced late yesterday evening that Deltarune chapters three and four are still on the way, but there's still a lot of work to be done. In a post on BlueSky, Fox said he is "still console testing" and though he's found fewer bugs than before, there are still plenty to correct — and he hasn't even started testing on the PlayStation 5 yet.

This update comes a month after professional bug testing began for the fourth chapter of the game on PC. Two weeks ago, Fox said he has to implement and test trophies on PlayStation, as they're a requirement for the game to be released on the platform.
