Pikmin has had some form of multiplayer component since the second game, but it wasn't until Pikmin 3 that it became a main feature. Pikmin 4 takes it even further, however, and does not allow you to play online. Instead, co-op in this title is restricted to local only. Depending on what mode you're playing, the way co-op works will be different as well, so let's go over how to play with friends in Pikmin 4 so you can enjoy the adventure together.

How to play co-op in Pikmin 4

If you want to play the story mode of Pikmin 4 in co-op, you can do it whenever you want. The game will ask you if you want to play with one or two players upon first launch, but it is still possible to do after that point.

Step 1: Load your single-player game.

Step 2: Open your Pause menu.

Step 3: Select Co-op Mode on the top right.

Step 4: In this mode, the second player will control what is called a "Pebble Pitcher" who can use a cursor to shoot rocks or items at enemies or things in the environment to help the main player out, somewhat like how the co-op worked in Super Mario Galaxy.

Step 5: The other multiplayer mode isn't just co-op, but can also be competitive.

Step 6: From the title screen, choose to play "Dandori Battles."

Step 7: Here you can pick to either play by yourself against a computer, against your friend, or team up with your friend against a computer. Whichever way you decide to play, the rules of the game will remain the same.

While we do wish you could play the main campaign in a more full-featured co-op mode, it is still nice that there is some option to get a little help and let someone else join in on the Pikmin fun.

How to redeem codes on PS5
Screenshot of the PlayStation 5's user interface.

As we tumble closer and closer to that all-digital future, we're seeing fewer games on discs and far more given away as codes. While there are drawbacks to only having a digital library, being able to easily input a code into your console and download a game is no doubt convenient. Well, it would be if it weren't so difficult to actually find the right menu to type in that code. There are a lot of quirks to the PS5's interface, but the code redemption screen is particularly tricky to find. If you've got a fresh game code you desperately want to redeem, we'll help you out.

How to redeem codes on Steam
Custom art in a Steam library.

Steam, and PC gaming in general, has become almost exclusively digital. Even if you can find a boxed copy of a PC game today, you're almost guaranteed to open it up and just find a code inside. That Steam code only needs to be entered once to give you access to the game, whether it comes from a boxed copy or more likely an online seller. If you're used to simply purchasing games with your Steam wallet funds or attached credit card to add it to your library directly, you may have no idea how to redeem a product on Steam. Not to worry — the process is as simple as can be.

How to redeem codes on Xbox Series X
A list of indie games on Xbox appears in a grid.

Whether you have a code for a full game, a Game Pass subscription, or a gift card to add funds to your wallet to purchase a game digitally, the only thing standing between you and whatever that code unlocks is the Xbox Series X/S UI. Xbox hasn't changed it's UI a ton since the Xbox One days, but it can still be a bit cumbersome to work through, especially if you don't redeem codes very often. While the option is a little out of the way, you can access it in just a few seconds once you know where to look.
