Online portal Yahoo today said they were unveiling a new set of features on their travel site to make it more of “comprehensive online travel guideâ€. The main new feature is a product known as theTrip Planner. The Yahoo Travel Trip Planner, the company said, allows users to create a customized trip itinerary using information about hotels,attractions and restaurants found in Yahoo Travel. Users can also add custom items or information found on the Web. Other features of the Trip Planner include interactive destination maps, drivingdirections, sharing of travel plans with others including the ability to search and read public trip itineraries and printable versions to take on the road or airplane. Other new features ofYahoo Travel include user-contributed travel photos through Yahoo’s Flickr photo sharing community and a database of vacation home rentals from owners. “At Yahoo! Travel, we want to helptravelers find, use and share the knowledge needed to make the most of their trips,” said James Slavet, general manager of Yahoo! Marketplace – Travel and Autos, in a statement. “The launch of TripPlanner and our expanded community and content offerings are just the beginning of our plans to build the ultimate online travel resource.”
