The Ark trailer showcases the fight for survival in space

When humans travel into space on colonization missions in movies, things typically go wrong. And following that pattern, the first trailer for SYFY’s space adventure The Ark previews a fight for survival.

Set 100 years in the future, the survival of the human race depends on the success of a group of colonization missions to other planets. With one year remaining on their journey, the people aboard Ark One experience a catastrophic event that results in casualties to the crew and damage to the ship. The spacecraft is losing vital resources by the minute, threatening the entire operation. With all the high-ranking officials dead, the rest of the crew must band together to repair the ship and continue their mission. However, not everyone will make it in this battle for survival.

James Brice, Ryan Adams (Orange Peel) as Angus Medford, and Stacey Read (Aneni) as Alicia Nevins. Christina Wolfe (Batwoman), Miles Barrow (The Peripheral), Pavle Jerinić (Mayhem), Shalini Peiris (Vera), Tiana Upcheva (My Husband’s Double Life), and Lisa Brenner (Bad Samaritan) are set to appear in recurring roles.

The Ark is created by Dean Devlin, best known for his collaborations with Roland Emmerich on Independence Day and Godzilla, and Jonathan Glassner (Stargate SG-1). Both will serve as showrunners and executive producers.

‘The Magicians’ cast describes becoming a bunch of muggles at Comic-Con
Magicians Syfy Comic-Con 2017

What happens when you have a show about spellcasters who can’t do magic? We’ll find out in Season 3 of Syfy’s The Magicians. Jason Ralph (Quentin), Stella Maeve (Julia), Hale Appleman (Eliot), Summer Bishil (Margo), Olivia Taylor Dudley (Alice), and showrunners John McNamara and Sera Gamble spoke to reporters at San Diego Comic-Con about how the Plumber turning off magic will affect the world.

Season 2 just ended in April and Season 3 won’t return until 2018, so there weren’t a ton of spoilers about the fallout. We did learn a few tidbits, though. “It will kind of be our Fury Road season,” said McNamara. “No resources.” That means no bouncing between worlds, for one thing. “We get to see new combinations of people; we get to watch them work together,” said Ralph. Julia, Quentin, and Josh (Trevor Einhorn) are all together, trying to figure out how to contact an old god. “He would love a conversation with an old god to convince that god that he should turn magic back on, but it’s not that easy to get to them,” said Gamble of Quentin.

The stars of ‘Ghost Wars’ on why you should watch it instead of all the other paranormal shows
Ghost Wars Syfy TV show Vincent D'Onofrio Avan Jogia

There are hordes of supernatural beings on TV at the moment, but the creators of Syfy’s Ghost Wars think their 13-episode show will offer scares that stay with you after you’ve switched off the set (or powered down your device). Stars Vincent D’Onofrio (Father Dan Carpenter), Meat Loaf (Doug Rennie), Avan Jogia (Roman Mercer), Kandyse McClure (Landis Barker), as well as showrunner Simon Barry, writer and executive producer Dennis Heaton, and executive producers Chad Oakes and Mike Frislev spoke with press at San Diego Comic-Con 2017 to explain what’s going down in small-town Alaska.

The coastal town of Ports Moore, Alaska hasn’t always been haunted, but its residents are used to being cut off from the rest of the world, thanks to the remote location and harsh winters. “For us it was really important that the outside world didn’t interfere with this story,” said Barry.

‘12 Monkeys’ cast reveals feelings about the show’s ending at Comic-Con
Emily Hampshire 12 Monkeys Comic Con 2017

Ahead of its fourth and final season, Syfy’s 12 Monkeys cast came to San Diego Comic-Con 2017. In addition to showing a new trailer, Aaron Stanford (Cole), Amanda Schull (Cassie), Emily Hampshire (Jennifer), Alisen Down (Olivia), Todd Stashwick (Deacon), and showrunner Terry Matalas talked to reporters about what the call the show’s deeply satisfying ending.

Perhaps the two biggest standouts in the trailer are the poem left by Cole’s mother and more glimpses of Olivia as the Witness. Though she seems to be happily embracing her role, it will take time to get there. “You will see some self-doubt in there,” said Down. While Down thinks Olivia is conflicted, she will eventually embrace becoming the Witness. “I think the darkness that Olivia feels comes from her childhood, but also, her sense of purpose, what she needs to do to create the Red Forest,” she said. Episode 3 is what Matalas calls a “coming of age” episode, where we’ll see some of her transformation. “I would be scared of Olivia,” warns Matalas.
