Nicolas Cage’s Dracula wants his servant back in Renfield trailer

Is there a better feat of casting than Nicolas Cage (The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent) as Dracula? The animated and over-the-top actor perfectly channels the world’s most famous vampire in the first trailer for Renfield.

Nicholas Hoult (The Menu) plays the titular Renfield, Dracula’s henchman and servant. When he falls for a traffic cop from New Orleans named Rebecca Quincy (The Farewell’s Awkwafina), Renfield finds a new lease on life and wants out of his working relationship with Dracula. Renfield is tired of working for his demanding boss after centuries of providing Dracula with fresh bodies to feast on. As Quincy puts it, Renfield is the “guy that gets the villain’s Postmates.”

Throughout the trailer, Renfield explains his problems to various members of a support group. However, Cage’s character interrupts the meeting at the end of the trailer and hovers over the entire group. As Renfield and the group cower in fear, Cage shows off his fangs and creepily says, “I am Dracula.”

7 best Nicolas Cage sci-fi movies, ranked
Two men point guns at each other in Face/Off.

With well over 100 movies to his name since his screen debut in 1982, Nicolas Cage is one of the most prolific actors of his generation. And while Cage has appeared in many rom-coms, thrillers, and dramas, he's only occasionally accepted roles in sci-fi movies. Even with Cage's direct-to-video era, there just aren't many science fiction movies to choose from.

Since Cage has a sci-fi adjacent postapocalyptic horror flick called Arcadian currently available on VOD, we've decided to throw the spotlight on the seven best Nicolas Cage sci-fi movies. However, you should keep in mind that Cage isn't always the best judge of what is or isn't a great movie. That's why this list would be very different if it was about the seven best Nicolas Cage movies. In fact, only our top choice would be on both lists.

Can Nicolas Cage’s new film Longlegs be the scariest movie of 2024?
A woman looks at a board full of notes in Longlegs.

It's only February, but 2024 already feels like it needs a good horror movie to shake things up. Last year, audiences were spoiled with the January delights of M3GAN and Infinity Pool and the promise of yet another installment in the Scream franchise. So far this year, all we've gotten is a tepid Mean Girls musical remake, another Jason Statham action movie, and Argylle, which is only scary in how bad it is. (Seriously, don't see it.)

Leave it to film distributor Neon and beloved weirdo actor Nicolas Cage (Dream Scenario) to save the day. Over the past few weeks, the former has released a slow trickle of new info about the 2024 movie, starting with a series of intriguing posters that hint at the movie's American Gothic approach to horror.

This underrated Nicolas Cage movie is on Hulu this January. Here’s why you should watch it
A man sits at a dinner table in Pig.

Another year, another chance to find and consume some undeniable gems on your favorite streaming services. As you get back to your normal routine, there's still plenty of opportunity to find interesting movies on a streaming service like Hulu, which has built up a very respectable library of movies over the years. One of those films is Pig, a recent Nicolas Cage movie that broke out in a major way, and for good reason.

The movie follows a man living in rural Oregon who tries to hunt down the people responsible for kidnapping his pig. While it may sound like Cage's riff on John Wick, Pig turns out to have much more profound, beautiful ideas at its center.
