Cyber Monday was the biggest shopping day in Amazon’s history

Cyber Monday racked in record-breaking sales yesterday, and Amazon probably contributed to a lot of those sales, since it was the company’s biggest shopping day in Amazon history. Online shoppers flocked to Amazon to purchase electronics, and the e-commerce giant’s Cyber Monday numbers show what were the most popular products.

According to data from Thinknum, an alternative data provider, the Amazon Fire 7 Tablet was the best-selling computer product on Cyber Monday. The top 10 best-selling computer products on Amazon were all some iteration of the Fire Tablet, including the Kids Edition Tablet and the Fire HD 8 Tablet.

Amazon discounted the tablet at $30, which was 40% off the original price of $50.

Other than Fire Tablets, other popular products shoppers bought on Amazon on Cyber Monday include Apple AirPod Pros, Instant Pots, Philips Sonicare toothbrushes, the Amazon Echo Dot, and more. The AirPod Pros sold so well for its Cyber Monday deal of $15 off that Amazon ran out of stock halfway through yesterday’s big shopping day. Most online stores, including Amazon, are still showing zero stock in their inventory of Apple AirPod Pros, with wait times ranging from one week to four weeks.

Amazon published a blog on Tuesday, December 3, that revealed that Amazon’s Cyber Monday was the biggest shopping day in the company’s history, based on the number of items that were purchased worldwide.

“We’re focused on making this holiday season more convenient than ever for our customers, especially given how short this holiday shopping season will be,” Jeff Wilke, CEO Worldwide Consumer at Amazon, said in Tuesday’s blog. “We are thrilled that customers continue to come to Amazon in record numbers to discover what they need and want for the holidays. Thank you to our customers and employees all around the world for making this holiday shopping weekend the best yet.”

Overall, this year’s Cyber Monday broke records with total online sales reaching an estimated $9.4 billion. In total, this year’s Cyber Monday sales were up an estimated 19% from last year, which saw about $7.9 billion in online sales.

This holiday shopping season has already generated $81.5 billion in online sales so far, according to Adobe Analytics. That figure factors in November 1 through December 1, so the total can only grow as last-minute shoppers scramble to purchase their gifts over the next three weeks or so.
