Snoopy goes flying as the Red Baron in the first trailer for The Peanuts Movie

The first trailer for The Peanuts Movie has arrived online, offering a first glimpse at the upcoming animated movie based on Charles Schulz’s beloved comic strip.

Produced by Blu Sky Studios (Ice AgeRio), the 3D computer-animated feature is directed by Steve Martino (Ice Age: Continental Drift) and written by Craig Schulz, Bryan Schulz, and Cornelius Uliano. Craig and Bryan Schulz are the son and grandson, respectively, of the Peanuts creator.

While it’s far from the first feature film based on Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the rest of the Peanuts gang, it’s their first 3D, computer-animated adventure. It’s also the first film to feature the characters in 35 years, and it’s being released in conjunction with the 65th anniversary of the comic strip in 2015.

It’s worth noting that the voices of Snoopy and Woodstock heard in the trailer (and film) are actually taken from archival recordings of the characters’ original voice actor, Bill Melendez.

Previous films featuring the Peanuts characters — including 1965’s A Charlie Brown Christmas and the following year’s It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown — have earned Primetime Emmy Awards and multiple nominations.

The Peanuts Movie hits theaters November 6, 2015.

A new era begins in first Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes trailer
Noa and his bird friend in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

In 2011, Rise of the Planet of the Apes started a new chapter in the franchise by rebooting the film series and focusing on the story of the legendary ape leader Caesar. In 2017, War for the Planet of the Apes brought Caesar's story to a conclusion, but the reboot timeline lives on in next summer's Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Generations have passed since the time of Caesar, and while the new movies haven't caught up with the time frame of the original movies yet, the first teaser trailer for Kingdom reveals that humanity is looking more and more like the savages they were in the first Planet of the Apes.

Don’t miss these 6 fall 2023 movies that are flying under the radar
A man in a trench coat walks in Ferrari.

If you're one of the lucky few to be able to attend it, the 2023 New York Film Festival is a great way to see the latest in world cinema. From cutting-edge films like Ryûsuke Hamaguchi's Evil Does Not Exist to more commercial fare like Michael Mann's Ferrari, the Big Apple film fest effectively showcases the artform as it exists at this moment.

Of the hundreds of features and short films that screened at NYFF, I only managed to see a handful, but each one was distinct and memorable in their own idiosyncratic way. Some, like Garth Davis' sci-fi movie Foe, have already been released, while others, like Andrew Haigh's All of Us Strangers, are scheduled to be released this fall. From instant masterpieces to flawed works of art, these six films are worth a look for audiences to see the state of cinema in 2023 and to simply have a good time at the movies.

Jason Momoa and Patrick Wilson bro up in Aquaman 2’s first trailer
Patrick Wilson and Jason Mamoa in "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom."

2019 seems like such a long time ago that it's easy to forget that Aquaman was far and away the most successful movie in the DC Extended Universe. The Flash and the rest of this year's superhero film flops could only dream of matching Aquaman's $1.148 billion worldwide gross. Can the upcoming sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, deliver a turnaround for DC's movies ahead of the big James Gunn-led reboot? That remains to be seen. However, the first trailer for the film is banking heavily upon the burgeoning bromance between Jason Momoa's Aquaman/Arthur Curry, and his estranged half-brother, Orm (Patrick Wilson).
