Halo 3 to Get Online Test in 2007

Microsoft has announced that it will offer a pre-release, beta version of Halo 3 via its Xbox Live online gaming service in spring 2007. The test edition will mark the fifth anniversary of the company’s Halo video game franchise; the pre-release will only be available for the Xbox 360, but will offer multiplayer capability.

To tease the third installment of the game series, Microsoft will also stage a one-time airing of a 60-second Halo 3 advertisement on ESPON’s Monday Night Football on December 4, 2006. The company also plans to offer new, Xbox 360-exclusive downloadable content for its existing Halo 2 game this holiday season.

“The ‘Halo’ Nation has a nearly insatiable desire,” said Jeff Bell,corporate VP of global marketing for Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business. “We hope a taste of advance Halo 3 gameplay satisfies some of their appetite as we count down to the game’s launch later in 2007.”

According to Microsoft, Halo 3 will offer a climax to the Halo story, following Master Chief as he brings the conflict between the Covenant, the Flood, and the human race to a conclusion. Halo 3 will boast a number of technical and gameplay improvements by leveraging the capabilities of the Xbox 360 console; Microsoft plans to use the pre-release to collect feedback and refine the eventual commercial release of Halo 3. The installment will offer enhanced AI, improved high-definition visuals, an advanced real-time lighting engine, plus a myriad of new weapons, characters, and obstacles.

Microsoft also plans to introduce new multiplayer makes for Xbox 360-equipped Halo 2 players in early 2007.

Microsoft has inked a deal with Oscar winners Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh to craft a new game series set in the Halo universe, as well as an original game franchise. Jackson and Walsh also started work on a Halo feature film, although production was recently suspended after studios Universal and Fox backed out of financing the project.

3 things I want in Fallout 5 after watching Amazon’s Fallout series

Fallout has been the watercooler TV show this month, an impressive feat for a video game adaptation. Although Bethesda doesn't have any new Fallout games to release alongside it, the Amazon Prime series has reinvigorated interest in Fallout, with all its titles seeing notable player count increases. For now, we’ll have to be content with a Fallout 4 current-gen upgrade, but I’ll admit that my mind is drifting to thinking about Fallout 5.

Bethesda’s Todd Howard has teased that Fallout 5 will be the next project Bethesda Game Studios works on after Elder Scrolls 6. While that likely means its release is at least a decade away unless Bethesda fast-tracks it, I still find it fun to theorize about where a true single-player Fallout 5 could go next. These three particular things are what I want to see the most.

Another Crab's Treasure no doubt looks like a kid-friendly game, but hiding beneath its charming and cute exterior is a challenging soulslike experience that can test the mettle of genre veterans. Those who either can't or don't want to engage with such intense difficulty throughout this underwater adventure can make great use of a variety of assists. Among these is a rather shocking, but hilarious option that can completely negate nearly all of the game's challenge while providing some laughs along the way. Here's how to get a gun in Another Crab's Treasure.
How to get a gun
To give yourself a gun in Another Crab's Treasure, head over to the Settings menu. Navigate to Assist Mode at the bottom of the menu, then scroll to the bottom once more to a setting called Give Kril a Gun. Toggle this on, then back out and resume your game to find that Kril now has a massive pistol on his back in place of a shell.

This new gun on your back provides you with more than just a funny visual, though -- it actually allows you to shoot and kill any enemy in a single hit, nearly eliminating all of the challenge from the game. Additionally, if you're after trophies or achievements, the first time you shoot a crab with the gun will also unlock "This Kills the Crab."
