The National Football League today announced its new online video distribution service NFL Now has landed on the Apple TV, giving football fans free access via the set-top box to the touted new service. While NFL Now won’t offer coveted live game broadcasts, the service is designed to enhance the viewing experience, bringing personalized news, highlights, and analysis to viewers across a bevy of mediums.

The league debuted the service earlier this month with a long list of compatible platforms and distribution partners, including iPhones, iPads, and Android mobile devices, Windows 8 and Surface tablets, Xbox, Roku, and online via the official NFL Now website.

In addition to live press conferences before and after games, the service also has a customization engine designed to become tailor-fit to the user over time as it tracks viewing preferences, bringing dynamic personalization for each fan’s favorite team and players. For $2 a month, viewers can also (of course) upgrade to NFL Plus for even more access to what the league calls “the largest digital library of NFL video anywhere.” The paid service will include instant in-game highlights from every game, a customized stream personalized for favorite teams, players, or fantasy rosters, and access to NFL Films shows and documentaries.

NFL Now will also reportedly become available on Kindle Fire, Amazon’s Fire TV, Yahoo Screen, and Yahoo Sports by the start of the NFL’s regular season on September 4th.
