The Galaxy S7 comes out unscathed after spending 45 minutes in a washing machine

Galaxy S7 vs. LG Washer Water Test! [DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME]
Samsung has been getting a lot of praise for returning water resistance to the Galaxy S7. It has an IP68 rating, which means it can be immersed in five feet of water for 30 minutes, but what about a washing machine?

A YouTube user decided to chance it and find out what would happen. He used an LG washer with clothes in it so the device wouldn’t be banged around too much. This is the likely scenerio if you happen to forget your S7 in the pocket of your favorite pair of jeans before throwing it in the washer. Nobody in their right mind would throw a phone in a washer alone.

After 45 minutes, not only was the phone still powered on and working, it had virtually no damage. We should note that the S7 did have a clear protective case though.

He immediately tested the Wi-Fi connectivity and the camera, and found no issues. The only hitch was that the fingerprint sensor didn’t work at first, but that was because it was still a little wet. It worked as soon as it was wiped off.

The Galaxy S7 isn’t the first water-resistant phone we have seen, but what’s impressive about it is that it looks like any other traditional phone. Most water-resistant phones have rubber covers on open ports and utilize rugged materials. The USB port on the Galaxy S7 is fully exposed, but Samsung was able to fit a seal internally to protect it.

We have to stress that you probably shouldn’t try this at home since every washer is different. Different models use different amounts of water and each cycle varies. However, it’s good to know that your Galaxy S7 is likely to survive in the event that you accidentally leave your shiny new Galaxy S7 in your pocket before putting it into the washing machine.

In the market for a new phone? You might be considering the latest offering from Samsung, which includes the Galaxy S24. It’s the entry level model for the S24 lineup, but still packs great performance and power with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and 8GB RAM, a beautiful LTPO AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate and 2,600 nits peak brightness. And even though it’s a base model, you get a triple lens camera system.

But the Galaxy S24 isn’t the only option you have out there. Here are five great alternatives to consider if you’re thinking about the S24.
