‘BoJack Horseman’ goes from has-been to star in Netflix show’s season 3 trailer

Netflix isn’t horsing around: The official trailer for season 3 of the animated sitcom BoJack Horseman is here, and thanks to the new preview, we finally have a good idea of what to expect as we continue to follow the life and career of the titular character.

We have gotten used to BoJack (voiced by Will Arnett) as a washed-up actor over the course of the first two season, but all that is going to change for the horse. The trailer shows that success is coming — major success. Not only will the character’s latest film make him “a bona fide movie star,” in the words of Princess Carolyn (Amy Sedaris), he may even be nominated for an Academy Award.

Based on the preview, BoJack is conflicted about becoming a big star. He seems pretty thrilled about it initially and is shown taking advantage of being in the spotlight, but that quickly changes. Diane (Alison Brie) is apparently on to something when she tells him, “This kind of thing can sometimes send you spinning. ‘Oh god, why doesn’t this make me happy? Will anything make me happy?'”

He certainly seems to be spinning. We see him indulging in multiple vices (like alcohol, among other substances), driving his car backwards into a body of water, and even ending up on the wrong end of a taser. It is not exactly the behavior of someone who has suddenly found happiness and contentment, but it should make for interesting plot developments.

Like the episodes before it, season 3 will continue exploring success, relationships between people, and other issues. The series is created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg, who serves as executive producer alongside Arnett, Aaron Paul, Steven A. Cohen, and Noel Bright.

BoJack Horseman season 3 arrives on Netflix on July 22.

If there's a shocker this month on HBO and Max, it's that the highly touted original series The Sympathizer is only in the ninth slot on the list of the most popular shows on Max. Considering that series has Robert Downey Jr. in multiple roles, we expected it to do a lot better. Instead, the new No. 1 title on this list is Conan O'Brien Must Go, a comedy travel series featuring one of the quirkiest late-night talk show hosts from the last 25 years.

HBO's comedy and political talk shows, Real Time with Bill Maher and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, both returned to the list this month. And unsurprisingly, The Jinx is once again a true crime hit nine years after its previous season premiered on HBO. Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV and the anime series Ninja Kamui also had strong showings this month. But with only one episode left in the first season of Ninja Kamui, there may be a new show in its place on this list next month.

Margot Robbie may star in Rob Liefeld’s Avengelyne comic book movie

In the realm of comic books, Avengelyne isn't exactly a well-known heroine. That's largely because she's had a sporadic publishing history since her debut in 1995. However, Avengelyne's co-creator, Rob Liefeld, is reportedly near a deal that will bring his character to the big screen, potentially with Barbie's Margot Robbie in the title role.

Liefeld, who is best-known for co-creating Deadpool with writer Fabian Nicieza, co-created Avengelyne in 1995 with former Vampirella model Cathy Christian. The character used Christian's likeness, and she was envisioned as a fallen angel who was cast out of heaven for questioning God's love for humanity. Once on Earth, Avengelyne is stripped of most of her powers and direction until she discovers demons hidden among humanity who plan to bring about hell on Earth. To save the world, Avengelyne confronts the demons and becomes humanity's protector.
