Apex Legends Mobile Perks guide: How do Perks work?

While it once was a novel concept, it’s now become the standard for FPS games to come with at least a few RPG elements in them. Usually, they come in the form of XP progression systems that gradually unlock new items, cosmetics, and things of that nature. Apex Legends took those ideas and expanded them to incorporate unique heroes called Legends that have their own classes and set of abilities. While it is by no means a full-on RPG — the better shooter will win the day almost every time — this extra layer of complexity helped make the game have an even higher skill ceiling to explore.

Apex Legends Mobile, rather than dumb down the core experience, actually adds even more RPG elements. Perks are a new system that adds a new way to further tweak and customize your favorite Legends. This system is brand new to the mobile version, so even those who have been playing the console and PC versions will need to learn how this system works. To get you caught up fast, here’s our guide on how Perks work in Apex Legends Mobile.

What do Perks do?

Simply put, Perks are modifiers that each Legend can unlock that can somehow buff that Legend’s default abilities and strengths. You can’t access the Perks menu straight away, however, and need to play at least a few matches before it will unlock. Once it does, you will see a unique skill tree of sorts with all the Perks for each Legend. These Perks are not drastic buffs, so don’t expect anything that will make you too powerful. They are kept somewhat tame so that more experienced players don’t have a noticeable advantage over new players. However, they can make a difference if you find some that synergize well with your playstyle.

Perks only apply to the Battle Royale game mode. If you play any other mode, they won’t apply to keep things balanced.

What are the different kinds of Perks?

Perks are broken up into three different categories: Perks, colored in blue, Finishers in purple, and Ability in red. Every legend has a total of nine perks to unlock across these three categories, three for each type.

  • Perks all either buff the passive ability of that Legend or occasionally add a new small passive buff, such as making Syringes to restore 10 more health when used.
  • Finishers give you an extra buff to your character if you manage to pull off a finisher on an enemy. One example is Octane restoring 100 points to his shield after using a finisher.
  • Ability perks are like Perks, only they improve that Legend’s Tactical ability instead. One of Fade’s Ability perks makes his Flash Back ability allow him to regain his shields when used.

Once the Perks section has opened up to you, you can begin to unlock and equip new Perks. However, like anything else in Apex Legends Mobile, you don’t get all your Perks for free. As you play matches with a specific Legend, you will unlock unique Tokens for that Legend that can only be used to purchase Perks for that Legend. That means you can’t grind out levels for one Legend and use those Tokens to unlock Perks for a different character, so make sure to level up more than one character to at least have a few Perks for each in case you need to switch off your main.

Once you have a nice stash of Tokens, head to the Menu, go to the Legends tab, and select the Legend that you’ve been grinding for. Select Details > Unlock to see the Perks skill tree. You will need to follow the flow of the tree, unlocking Perks in a somewhat dictated order, with each one farther down the line costing more and more Tokens to get.

As you unlock new Perks, it is important to note that, to further prevent this new system from becoming unbalanced, you can only equip each Legend with one Perk from each category: Perk, Finisher, and Ability. However, you are able to customize multiple setups with different Perk configurations to easily swap between loadouts you like between matches.

All mounts in Minecraft Legends and how to get them
Four players stand together in the 4v4 PvP mode of Minecraft Legends.

In yet another genre-mixup following Minecraft Dungeons, Minecraft Legends brings the open-world survival and building game to the RTS genre. Unlike most traditional RTS games, where you control the action from a detached, overhead perspective, this game keeps you in the action by giving you a character to control on the field itself. To keep the action fast-paced, and make sure you can easily control and order your mobs around, giving your character a mount is essential. Just like in the original game that inspired it, there are multiple creatures you can use as mounts, and they all behave and function differently. While the world in Minecraft Legends isn't randomly generated, it can still feel overwhelming trying to find what you're looking for. Here are all the mounts you can ride in Minecraft Legends, what they do, and where to find them.
How to get every mount in Minecraft Legends

There are four different mounts you can tame and ride throughout your quest in Minecraft Legends. These include the horse, bird, beetle, and tiger. All you have to do to ride a new one is find it and press Swap Mount when near it, but finding them is the tricky part. Here's where each of them resides in the world, plus what makes them special.
Where to find the horse
You won't have to go looking for the horse since you begin the game with one. This is the classic mount and is made for getting you around the map much faster than on foot. The horse's special ability is being able to sprint indefinitely at a high speed.
Where to find the bird
A bird may not sound like a creature you could ride, and yet here we are. These rainbow-colored birds are quite small, but not hard to find in the Jagged Peaks biome. Keep an eye on your map for a clue as to when you're close to one since they will automatically be marked for you. Once you've mounted a bird, you will be able to jump higher than any other mount, plus slowly glide from any height by holding the jump button.
Where to find the beetle
Perhaps an even stranger choice for a mount, the beetle is much bigger than their real-life counterparts. These insects are native to the Jungle biomes, so venture into the trees to snag one. The Beetle has two special attributes, the first it shares with the bird which is being able to glide by holding jump in the air. The beetle's unique skill is that it can climb up any surface. So, while slow, it is very versatile and strategic.
Where to find the tiger
Now we're talking! If you want to play He-Man and ride your very own tiger, get yourself on a safari to the Dry Savanna biome to track one down. The tiger has the most simple ability, which is that it is simply the fastest mount you can get. However, this speed does come with a downside. Unlike the Horse, the Tiger doesn't have infinite stamina, so you will need to slow down eventually.
