Looking to kill some time? Microsoft Solitaire Collection coming to iOS, Android

If you have any history with Windows beyond the latest iterations, you will have killed time at some point in your life by playing one of its classic time-wasting games, the most popular of which has always been Solitaire. That classic PC version of the even more classic card game is now making its way to iOS and Android as the Microsoft Solitaire Collection.

We don’t know exactly when it’s coming, but we do know it will because Microsoft sent out an email to its Microsoft Casual Games Inner Circle, which as WinBeta explains, operates a little like the Windows Insider program, but for gaming. It says that Microsoft is looking for beta testers for the Solitaire Collection, which is coming to iOS and Android at some point in the future.

“We are developing Microsoft Solitaire Collection for iOS and Android devices, and we are looking for a group of passionate Solitaire players to help us test our beta version of the game as we continue to work on it,” reads the email.

While you might be hard-pressed to find many people who consider themselves “passionate,” about playing solitaire, there are likely more than a handful of people who would be keen to play such a Microsoft classic on their mobile device.

As much as Solitaire isn’t the most eye-catching or engaging game out there, it’s served many a PC user well over the generations of Windows and will likely find strong popularity on smartphones when released – especially since the classic experience has been augmented by a number of additional features.

Microsoft’s Solitaire Collection was originally released on Windows 8 and relaunched on Windows 10, bringing with it a number of additions such as different game modes, daily challenges, coins, and even a premium edition with a number of additional extras.

iOS 18.5 arrives as Apple edges closer to big iOS 19 reveal
The iOS 18.5 update waiting on an iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Apple has released iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.5, the latest software updates for its iPhone and iPad models. As the version numbers suggest, Apple is gradually getting closer to the announcement of iOS 19, which will almost certainly be one of the main topics during its Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) keynote which takes place on June 9. In the meantime, here’s what you need to know about iOS and iPadOS 18.5.

Apple iPhone and iPad owners can check their devices for the update now by opening the Settings app, tapping General, and then Software Update. If iOS 18.5 or iPadOS 18.5 is available, it’ll show up here and you only need to follow the instructions to install it. What will you find once it’s all up and running? This isn’t a big software update, so don’t expect to spot any major alterations. Likely the most obvious will be a new wallpaper in Apple’s 2025 Pride collection, which follows the recent release of a special Pride 2025-themed Sport Band for the Apple Watch. If you’re a parent and your child has an iPhone, you’ll receive a notification when the Screen Time passcode is used, provided both devices have iOS 18.5 installed.
