PlayStation Store sales don’t always feature big discounts top games because they can easily sell at full price. So it’s quite notable that the PlayStation Critics’ Choice Sale features savings on some of 2019’s best-reviewed titles, including The Game Awards’ Game of the Year Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Running until February 18, the PlayStation Critics’ Choice Sale offers up to 50% savings on critically-acclaimed games going back several years, as well as deluxe editions that contain bonus content and expansions. If sales don’t show up on the main product page, they should apply when placed in the cart.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is available for $39, down from its typical $60. It’s one of the most difficult games FromSoftware has ever made, and its unique parry-centric combat system turns even the smallest battles into a dance of blades.

Two of Capcom’s best 2019 titles — Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry 5are available for $20 each. Running on the super-powerful RE Engine, they’re technical showcases despite the PS4’s age. They also have plenty of fan service for longtime players, but newcomers will still be able to enjoy Resident Evil 2 for its survival-horror gameplay and Devil May Cry 5 for its ridiculous combat, which changes drastically depending on which of the three protagonists is active.

Fans of the Netflix series The Witcher can get The Witcher III: Wild Hunt game for $12. It’s set after the series, but several characters return, including Geralt of Rivia and Ciri.

Official Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® – Story Trailer

Gamers who are partial to shooters can take advantage of several deals, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare‘s “Battle Pass Edition” discounted to $64 from its standard $80 and Remedy Entertainment’s Control, which is available for just $36. The long-awaited Borderlands 3 is already half-off as well at $30 and contains enough content to keep players busy for weeks.

PlayStation VR players can even save some cash during the sale, too. The crime caper Blood & Truth is $20 during the sale, down from $40, and Superhot VR has been discounted to $15 from $25. The two games provide very different takes on first-person action and storytelling, and Blood & Truth is exclusive to the platform.

Below are some of the other highlights to consider during the sale period:

PlayStation Plus gets one of 2024’s best games in May
A player plays a straight in Balatro.

Sony just announced the May 2025 lineup for PlayStation Plus, and it's a doozy. Giant boltgun-wielding space marines, armored dinosaurs, and a card game best described as Poker-turned-roguelike all await this next month starting on May 6. You have until then to redeem the games from April, if you haven't already done so.

First up is Balatro for PS4 and PS5 players. This game has been the subject of a lot of discussion, especially because it's a small indie that took home more awards than many AAA games. At the Game Awards, it won Best Debut Indie Game, Best Independent Game, and Best Mobile Game — and for good reason. Balatro is a deckbuilder with a twist; you use a standard deck of playing cards, but some cards have abilities and multipliers that help you on your quest to get the highest score you possibly can.

3 PlayStation Plus games to play this weekend (April 25-27)
A mage looking over morrowind in Elder scrolls online.

The end of a month is always exciting. We have an entire month of upcoming PS5 games to look forward to, plus the excitement to hear what new games will be coming to PlayStation Plus. April finished up strong with Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 arriving just this past week, which we suspect many of you will still be playing. However, that game isn't for everyone, and some of us out there can't afford to get this hot new game at full price. Whatever the case may be, this is the time when your PS Plus subscription really shows its worth. Just like I do every week, I have hand-picked some great games on the service you are sure to enjoy over the weekend.

The PlayStation 5 rental business is booming in the best way
Playstation 5 system and DualSense controller.

In early March, PlayStation Direct launched a program that allowed players to rent a PlayStation 5 for a low monthly cost, and it has proven to be a massive success in Japan. Reports indicate that of the roughly 400 stores offering the service in the country, many have sold out. Players can rent a PlayStation 5 for eight days for just under $7, or for 15 days for around $12.

There's a similar service available in the UK that has met with similar levels of success. Unfortunately, there isn't an option like this available in the United States. While a PlayStation 5 can be rented through some services, they tend to be rent-to-own options that aren't as budget-friendly as what PlayStation Direct offers.
