In July, Max is moving forward from past hits like The Last of Us and controversial shows like The Idol to a period where original documentaries and political thrillers dominate the schedule.

Max’s July 2023 schedule promises to keep the HBO tradition of quality programming alive with a bevy of new releases that include the limited series Full Circle from director Steven Soderbergh. In addition, there will be the anticipated debut of the original documentary Golden Boy, a Project Greenlight reboot, something called Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge, and Shark Week. Is The Nun 2 streaming?
Bonnie Aarons as Valak in The Nun 2.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the birth of The Conjuring universe, and it's become one of the biggest horror movie franchises of all time. To date, there have been nine movies, including three Conjuring flicks, three Annabelle films, the standalone story The Curse of La Llorona, and now, two Nun movies. The Nun hit theaters in 2018, and now, The Nun 2 has finally arrived.

Taissa Farmiga reprises her role as Sister Irene, one of the few who survived the previous encounter with the demonic Nun (Bonnie Aarons) in the first film. Unfortunately, Irene has no idea that her friend, Frenchie (Jonas Bloquet), has been possessed by the Nun, whose real name is Valak. The sequel occurs in France in 1956, as Irene receives a troubling vision about Valak's return. Irene soon finds herself in a race against time to prevent Valak from obtaining an ancient relic.

This is the single best TV show to watch on Max in September
Zahn McClarnon in Dark Winds.

When it comes to original series, September is going to be a largely quiet month for Max. But the good news for subscribers is that AMC is lending out several original shows to Max for the months of September and October. And that deal has already paid off with three of those AMC shows landing on the inaugural list of the 10 most popular shows on Max.

One of those series, Dark Winds, is our pick for the best show to watch on Max in September. It's a superb adaptation of Tony Hillerman's Leaphorn & Chee novels that already has two seasons under its belt, although only the first season is currently on Max. Regardless, Distant Winds hasn't become the breakout hit that it deserves to be on AMC, where it is often overshadowed by series like The Walking Dead or Interview with the Vampire. And that's why we're throwing the spotlight on it now to hopefully put Dark Winds on a path toward a larger audience. So here are three reasons why you should watch Dark Winds on Max while you still can.
