In July, Max is moving forward from past hits like The Last of Us and controversial shows like The Idol to a period where original documentaries and political thrillers dominate the schedule.

Max’s July 2023 schedule promises to keep the HBO tradition of quality programming alive with a bevy of new releases that include the limited series Full Circle from director Steven Soderbergh. In addition, there will be the anticipated debut of the original documentary Golden Boy, a Project Greenlight reboot, something called Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge, and Shark Week. Here’s what coming to Max in July 2023:

3 action movies on Max you need to watch in November
Two women battle in Lady Snowblood.

Max has one of the deepest libraries of any streaming service out there, but that doesn't mean it's easy to find what you want to watch. In fact, because there's so much interesting stuff, it can actually make picking any one thing more difficult.

We've decided to do some of the hard work for you by picking three great action movies that are worth checking out this month. These action movies represent a wide swath of what action cinema can be, and each of them is worth watching for very different reasons. We hope you'll see all three, but at the very least, you can certainly find time for one.

3 underrated shows on (HBO) Max you need to watch in November 2024
Azul Guaita in Like Water for Chocolate.

Good luck finding a great show on Max that isn't an HBO production. That's because the vast majority of the programing on Max comes from the Discovery side of Warner Bros. Discovery -- and when we say "Discovery," we're not talking about National Geographic-style documentaries. Reality shows are the order of the day, and they've flooded the lineup on Max to a ridiculous degree.

Fortunately, the HBO side of the company has bailed out Max in November, with two new additions, both of which are among the three underrated shows on (HBO) Max that you need to watch this month. Our final pick is a classic HBO original show that's nearly two decades old, but it's never been more timely than it is now.
