Google vs. the World

As Google buys up its smallest competitors and plows over the bigger ones, only a handful of tech titans stand in the way total Web domination. What chance do Apple, Facebook and Microsoft stand of resisting Google’s assault on every front?

Google has a ball in every court. The king of search is always attempting to stretch its reach, marking its territory in every corner of the worldwide Web that it possibly can. And while this has inarguably made it a major contender in all things digital, Google has naturally earned itself a few rivals along the way.

And the Mountain View giant has no intentions of playing nice. Google’s ready to use every weapon in its arsenal against the competition, and it won’t stop until it’s established itself all over the Web, and the world. As powerful as Google is though, we have to wonder: Is it spreading itself a little too thin? But if anyone can, while retaining profit and prestige, it’s certainly Google.

Here’s a look at three of its biggest competitors, the moves it’s making to crack open hardened battle lines and establish a foothold on every mountain, and our best guesses as to whether it will succeed.

Frederic Ditan at 12:40am 12th March 2011 I defined Google like a silent investment in market, never thought that time will come they will bring more innovative ideas and creativity in some ways, in that note i agree that the journey of Google in the next decade remain silent, smooth w/ a big bang
  2. ram at 6:03am 10th March 2011 If winner of chrome os vs mac os is mac.. why not say chrome vs safari and winner is chrome? Chrome os is not yet launched whereas chrome browser went past safari long ago and is killing IE
    1. Molly McHugh at 8:48am 10th March 2011 I totally agree, but was looking more into newer arenas Google hasn't quite established itself in yet. Chrome browser is "old" compared to these newer applications and platforms Google is branching out into, which is why I chose to compare Chrome OS and Mac OS. But you are correct - Chrome browser is easily besting many of its competitors.

    2. ioman at 12:01pm 10th March 2011 I thought Chrome OS was launched already? Haven't there been sites and reviews of the new Google OS Laptop floating around out there? So maybe it has not officially launched, but test samples are floating out there?
