Release February 22, 2023
Horizon Call of the Mountain is the PSVR2’s big launch title and the first spin-off for Sony’s Horizon series. This VR title is more of a Horizon-themed amusement park ride than a standalone Horizon adventure, but it’s still a very impressive new look into the series’ techno-dystopia and is a visual masterpiece.

The PSVR2’s secret weapon is actually a sequel to an obscure PlayStation 2 launch game. Fantavision 202X is a firework puzzle game that really thrives in VR — it turns a pretty standard puzzle game into a cinematic experience where you will feel like “a conductor crafting a visual symphony.”

Village isn’t the best entry in the long-running Resident Evil series, but it’s still a blast in VR. Resident Evil Village works best when it’s serving up atmospheric exploration that cleverly expands on the franchise’s puzzle box roots. Strap on your headset and try to survive.

No Man’s Sky VR is an immersive experience that takes players on a journey through an endless universe of procedurally generated planets, creatures, and space anomalies. This game is a great example of the possibilities of VR, allowing players to feel like they are actually exploring the vastness of space. The game’s mechanics, such as flying spacecraft and discovering new worlds, will take some getting used to in VR form, but it’s totally worth it.

A kayaking simulator might not have been at the top of your to-play list on your new $550 Vr headset, but we’re here to tell you that it needs to be. It’s a surprisingly robust showcase of what the PSVR2 is capable of, both in terms of visuals and its controls. Part fitness game, part National Geographic documentary, this title is a worthwhile VR experience despite it not being a typical game subject.

The best skills to buy first in Another Crab’s Treasure
Another Crab's Treasure

If you're looking for a quirky underwater adventure, Another Crab's Treasure has you covered with its kelp forests, unusual sand-dwelling NPCs, and creative gameplay mechanics. However, it's worth noting that it's also a challenging soulslike experience that is certain to leave you facing off against some enemies multiple times before felling them. One way to help this along is to invest in the game's skills, which often grant you some entirely new attacks or passive abilities that drastically change up the way you approach combat.

There are three skill trees, but you can mix and match between them as you see fit. And luckily, thorough explorers shouldn't have a problem unlocking most of the skills by the end of the game. Here are our picks for the best ones to buy first to increase your chances of getting there.

Best PlayStation Plus Deals: Save on Essential, Plus and Premium
Best PS Plus deals

While the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 are excellent consoles, especially for those who don't want to invest in a gaming PC, you tend to lose out on a lot if you don't have one of Sony's online subscriptions. You see, a PlayStation Plus (PS Plus) subscription offers, is access to online multiplayer, and without it, you can't connect to online servers and play with other folks, which is a bit frustrating. Luckily, a PS Plus membership does offer some additional features, such as free games every month and access to some older PS games, all of which depend on which of the three tiers you subscribe to: Essential, Extra, and Premium.
What is PlayStation Plus?
Along with online multiplayer and other in-game network features, a PlayStation Plus Essential membership grants you access to exclusive discounts and other promotions. Perhaps the most notable benefit of PlayStation Plus is that every month, Sony gives subscribers one PlayStation 5 and two PlayStation 4 games that are free to download. You have one month to add these free PlayStation Plus games to your library.

After that, these titles are yours to keep so long as you have an active PlayStation Plus subscription. The free-to-download games are generally pretty good (they are often some of the best PS4 games that have been out for a little while), and these alone justify the cost of PS Plus even for people who don't do a lot of online gaming.
