On August 22, Epic Games will begin a Fortnite collaboration with the EDM trio Major Lazer, following in the footsteps of previous events such as its Marshmello concert. The event will bring with it a special Major Lazer skin for Fortnite, and you’ll want to get your hands on it as soon as it is made available. Here is how to get the Major Lazer skin in Fortnite.

When can you get the skin?

The Fortnite item shop will update at 5 p.m PT/8 p.m ET on August 22, and this is when you can expect to be able to purchase the skin. It is always possible that Epic Games will opt to offer it sooner, but this has been the approach the company has been using thus far.

How much will it cost?

The highest-cost skin in the Fortnite shop currently costs 1,500 V-Bucks. It’s predicted that the Major Lazer skin will also cost this amount, which translates to about $15. V-Bucks can be purchased in packs of 1,000, meaning you’ll also have some left over to spend on other digital goodies. As we’ll discuss below, some of those for sale will likely be other Major Lazer digital items.

What will the skin look like?

The Major Lazer skin won’t be based directly on the members of the group, but rather an animated series they produced. With a beret and sunglasses, you’ll look like a warlord ready to kick some ass, with a few microphones strapped to your chest. It has an 80’s action movie vibe that we’re all about, and you can see a sneak peek in Epic Games’ tweet below.

What else will be available?

Data-miners have already uncovered a few other goodies you can get alongside the skin. This includes a dance emote, back bling, and a pickaxe. The dance can be seen below, and we’re not going to lie: It is pretty funky.

Naturally, you’ll need to get it all if you want to show your true Major Lazer fandom. The price of these could get pretty expensive, however, so make sure you have a surplus of V-Bucks if you plan on getting everything. You might even get special bonuses for free later on if the Marshmello skin is any indication.

How to get and use the metal detector in Atomfall
Holding a weapon in Atomfall.

Atomfall is a completely open-ended RPG. After a quick intro, you are free to go and do almost anything you want within the zone to find a way out. Instead of quests, the game features investigations that require a lot more thought and observation to solve compared to other games that simply give you a quest marker to follow. Even some of the major items in the game, like the metal detector, can be completely missed if you don't happen to find one. This tool can help you grab a lot of valuable supplies in the wilderness, which you will constantly be in need of. We won't be as cryptic as Atomfall and give you specific directions on how to get and use the metal detector.
How to get and use the metal detector

There are multiple ways to get almost everything ing Atomfall, including the metal detector. However, the first and easiest way to get one is to go to the village of Wyndham. Unless you've pissed off the wrong people, this is a peaceful location where you can find the majority of the game's traders.

Everything new in Fortnite Ballistic 34.20 update
Fortnite Ballistic key art

Since its early access launch on December 11, 2024, Fortnite Ballistic, Epic Games’ daring foray into the 5v5 tactical first-person shooter genre, has established a distinctive niche within the Fortnite universe. Debuting with Chapter 6 Season 1, this mode takes cues from iconic shooters such as Counter-Strike and Valorant, setting the stage for an intense bomb-planting duel between two teams on the tightly designed Skyline 10 map.

Right out of the gate, Ballistic exploded onto the scene, momentarily eclipsing the battle royale mode with an impressive 259,000 concurrent players just hours after its launch. This surge was driven by its innovative first-person perspective and the enticing allure of Fortnite’s trademark style. Even though its player base has found a new equilibrium—non-ranked hitting a high of over 300,000 and ranked reaching 169,000—it continues to stand out as an enticing option for gamers seeking strategic complexity rather than the frenetic energy of battle royale. The mode may still be a bit rough around the edges due to its early access status, but Epic's dedication to listening to community feedback has helped it maintain its momentum.
