What’s new on Peacock in May 2024

Peacock is still a revolving door for movies, but it’s got a great film lineup in May. The satire The American Society of Magical Negroes is arriving on May 3, shortly after fan-favorites like Jurassic Park, Wonder Woman, Life of Pi, The Hurt Locker, Get Out, Mad Max, and more settle in for at least 31 days on Peacock.

Among original series this month, the World War II drama The Tattooist of Auschwitz, arrives on May 2, while the British sitcom We Are Lady Parts gets its season 2 premiere on May 30. In the meantime, the current seasons of NBC’s Law & Order shows are coming to an end, while the first five seasons of Perry Mason are arriving on Peacock as well.

What’s new on HBO and Max in May 2024

HBO and Max tend to start the month strong with a long list of movies from the past four decades. However, May's movie lineup on Max is looking pretty slim. It is nice to have three original Mad Max movies available to stream just in time for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga to hit theaters later this month. Beyond that, the only movies worth getting excited for in May are the Max original romantic drama Turtles All the Way Down and A24's The Iron Claw, which is based on the true story of the Von Erichs, a family of professional wrestlers.

Max also has the season 3 premiere of Hacks and a new documentary about MoviePass, as well as a lot of reality shows from the Discovery side of Warner Bros. Discovery. What’s new on Amazon Prime Video in May 2024

Unlike some other streaming services in May, Amazon Prime Video is giving subscribers all of the movies that they can handle. Everything from classic Westerns like 3:10 To Yuma and comedies like Airplane! to dramas like Cold Mountain and more are arriving on May 1. Even the German thriller Run Lola Run is back on Prime Video. And if you haven't seen it yet, you should -- it's terrific.

Prime Video is also premiering new originals in May, including Anne Hathaway's new romantic drama The Idea of You, as well as Outer Range season 2, The GOAT, and Clarkson's Farm. George Clooney's period drama The Boys in The Boat is also arriving on Prime Video this month, but not until May 28.

Netflix has generally weathered the aftermath of the 2023 Hollywood strikes better than its streaming rivals. However, Netflix's lineup in May looks significantly weaker than in the recent past. There's a distinct lack of blockbuster movies from other studios. Even Netflix's original series are slowing down this month. The most significant arrival is Bridgerton season 3, and Netflix is splitting that season into two parts, making fans wait until June to get some closure.

There are other highlights, including Jerry Seinfeld's Unfrosted, Blood of Zeus, and the complete run of the animated spy comedy Archer. But compared to the shows and movies that Netflix had earlier in 2024, it's really lackluster.
