Review: With Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2, Lucasarts fixes most of the problems that plagued the first one, and replaces them with much worse issues.

The Force is weak in this–

No, you know what? I had a ton of Star Wars puns that I planned to drop into this review, but it is just too depressing. There is simply no easy way to put it, and it pains me to say this, but Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II is just not a good game.

I love Star Wars, and I always will despite George Lucas’ best efforts to punish my wallet for being a fan, and yet I cannot get behind Lucasarts on The Force Unleashed II. In fact, I lost a lot of respect for the company as developers because of this title. I am usually willing to cut a lot of slack to a video game developer when it comes to glitches. Most glitches are the result of the developer being rushed to produce the game, so a glitch or two earns the benefit of the doubt. It is usually a business thing more than an error, so I can live with it. With Force II, the glitches are just one minor concern when compared to the rest of the game, which is a mess, and this game needed more than just more time, it needed a total reworking.

At E3 this year, Lucasarts showed off Force II in a closed room. The developers played through part of the first level to show us what to expect. Having developers play through the demos for people is pretty common, so it wasn’t a big deal, but during this level, the character’s light saber became a giant green block. It was basic development stuff that they use for coding, but with the game coming out four months later, for the developers to show off a level that contained a few blatant glitches to the press, it was odd. I was told it happens all the time, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that Lucasarts was rushing this game out. After playing it, I am sure of it.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…

The biggest problem with Force II is that it is a small game. Not just in terms of length, (although it is short, and you can beat it on normal in four to five hours) but in terms of of scope. The previous game had its flaws, but scope was not one of them. The original Force had a story that was compelling and it made you overlook little things, like the crappy targeting system and occasionally awkward level designs. Force II takes that story and tries to build on it, but the entire plot — from beginning to end — could have fit inside two or three levels of the original game. In fact, there are only four levels in the game including one that you play twice, five if you count a ridiculously obvious attempt to pander to fans by throwing Yoda in (more on that in a bit), but the Dagobah level is just one long cut scene.  There have been bigger DLCs released.

Force II requires you to have played the first game, as the story is not just a direct continuation to the original, but feels like an add-on to it. So if you haven’t played the first, do so before you attempt the second. With that in mind, below are spoilers from the last game. If you plan on playing the original Force Unleashed first, then skip down to the next section.

Maybe it is the nostalgia, maybe it is the exact right combination of music and spectacle, but when the Star Wars logo flashes on a screen accompanied by that familiar John Williams theme, then the name of the episode or game scrolls up the screen before the story floats past, it is hard not to be at least a little excited. It is iconic, and it is always, always cool.

As Force II begins, you once again take control of Starkiller, the secret apprentice of Darth Vader — which is unusual, since Starkiller kind of died at the end of the first game to help create the Rebel Alliance. Vader soon arrives and tells you that you are a clone, the first clone to stave off insanity, but as memories of Starkiller’s life flood back, a seed of doubt is planted. Starkiller decides that Vader may be lying, and even if he is not he will not serve him, so he escapes to find out the truth about himself and to reunite with Juno Eclipse, the woman Starkiller fell in love with, who is now playing a major role with the Rebellion.

You quickly search out your former ally, Jedi Master General Rahm Kota, and after a fairly pointless stop on Dagobagh to say hi to Yoda, you are off to find Juno. Unbeknownst you, Boba Fett is also looking for Juno, and has been hired to bring her back to Vader.

You begin the game on Kamino, in the cloning facility seen in Attack of the Clones, then travel to the hanging city of Cato Neimoidia. Kamino is graphically incredible, with amazing rain effects, but the level itself is bland, while Cato Neimoidia looks great from afar and has a few interesting interiors that repeat themselves over and over again. Next you head to Dagobah to meet Yoda and check out the nightmare cave that Luke went into during the Empire Strikes Back Despite the hype you may have seen of Yoda in the game, he appears in maybe one minute of the game. All of this happens during a cut scene without you touching the controls once, then you are off to the starship Salvation, where you briefly see Boba Fett make a cameo before he too disappears. Once the Salvation level is complete, you return to Kamino and the game ends. All in all, you can complete the game in under five hours if you take the time to explore, less on easy. Oh, and there is no online or co-op play to add to the value. There are a series of challenges, but they are mostly time trials and things like that, and won’t make up for the short campaign.

The story is by far the biggest issue with the game. While the first game’s story was good enough to make you overlook problems, Force II’s story tends to highlight them. The first issue is that there are only four locations, and only three of them are playable. You return to one of the levels twice, but it is a fairly dull level to begin with. This was a disappointment of massive proportions. The original game sent you across the Star Wars universe and each level had its own look and feel. Granted, sometimes the level seemed to be sentient and actively tried to kill you by hiding areas and twisting the camera, but each new section was fun to see. It is a bewildering concept to make a sequel that has one-third the locations. It wouldn’t be as big a deal if the areas were more exciting to look at, but once you see two or three landing pads, you have seen them all. Also, the inclusion of Yoda and Boba Fett feels like a late decision designed to further the appeal of the game.

Despite its numerous flaws, the first game was a must play for fans of Star Wars because the story fit neatly into the overall canon, and played out within the confines of the existing movies — especially the ending, which fit into the continuity perfectly and added a few elements to the entire Star Wars lore. As with the first game, there are two endings in Force II where you decide if you want to follow the Jedi way or yield to the dark side of the Force. For the Jedi ending to be canon, it must be continued, as it goes against the continuity of the overall story and leaves several questions unanswered. On the other hand, the dark ending answers a few of those questions in a totally unsatisfying way. Neither are very compelling, and both leave you wondering when the inevitable sequel is due out.

An elegant weapon, for a more civilized time

Despite the weak level design and poor story, it can still be fun to wade through wave after wave of enemy, crushing them with your powers. The controls aren’t perfect; they occasionally become sluggish, and the targeting system is only slightly better than the last one, but the game still manages to let you pull off some wicked maneuvers. The new Jedi mind trick power is fairly interesting, and when you use it on certain enemies, they will either attack their allies or commit suicide.  It is the only power added from the previous game, but it is a fun one.

Although it is cool to force grab someone, turn them into an electrical bomb, then throw them back at their buddies, there are around 10 regular enemies (not counting bosses) that you will face. Just 10. I may be forgetting one or two, but the level of variety is low, and most enemies have a fairly standard pattern. Some can’t be hurt by lightsabers, while with others you need to use the force on them. Rinse and repeat.

There is a new addition called Force Rage, which begins with filling up a meter by defeating enemies, then unleashing massive amounts of damage until the bar is depleted. This is fun, but it is a minor addition. It also leads to some frame rate issues when you are on the screen with several enemies attacking at once, and again when you are near electricity that is coming off a structure like lightning — a fairly common occurrence in the Star Wars universe, apparently.

While it is fun to whip out the lightsabers and mow through imperial stormtroopers, take away the Star Wars theme and you are left with an average button masher wrapped around a flawed and mediocre game.

Who’s scruffy looking?

While the majority of the game is a mess, on the technical side– a few glitches aside– Force II shines. The character animations are top notch, and while the levels may be repetitive, they are detailed and graphically stellar. On Kamino, the rain effects are as good as in any game, while the lighting effects on Cale Neimoidia are beautiful.

The sound is also a high point, but that shouldn’t be surprising since it uses one of the best movie scores of all time as the soundtrack. There are a few moments where the music seems to be oddly placed– sad music during a battle sequence and things like that– but it is John Williams’ Star Wars score, and even after 30 years, it is still awesome.

The multiple outfit selection returns from the first game, and Starkiller’s animations are unaffected by whatever outfit you choose. Unfortunately there are only four new outfits in the game, but it is a decent technical trick to allow the user to pick the costume. More skins are unlocked when you complete the game, plus if you played the first game, Force II will unlock the two costumes you received at the end of the game (assuming you beat it under both endings).

It was as if a million voices cried out and were suddenly silenced

Force II actually made me mad. I rarely take it personally when a game disappoints, but this game felt rushed, and a company like Lucasarts should know better. Sure, Lucasarts is not above going for the cash (see the dozen or so different Star Wars movies alone as evidence), but even if you hate what they release, you can seldom criticize them for putting out crap. You might not like it, but it is generally high quality in terms of the skill involved, even if it is Jar Jar Binks. But Force II feels like a cash grab, and the game was probably hurt by the numerous layoffs Lucasarts has recently faced. The game comes across as half complete, and almost as if it were one big game cut in half, with a sequel coming soon. If The Force Unleashed III is announced for late 2011, I would not be surprised, although there are rumors that a third game was under development but had been cancelled.  If true, it seems likely that Force II was meant to be longer, but was shortened to maximize profits by cutting a massive amount of the game and shunting it towards a sequel. If so, Lucasarts deserves every ounce of criticism leveled at this game, and much more.

It is fairly common for sequels to fail to live up to the original, but when you take what worked in the first, then give less of it, there is a serious problem. To put it as succinctly as possible: The story is thin, the resolution is ridiculous, the levels are bland, plus there are only a few of them, and the gameplay is repetitive and muddled. So all in all, not one of the better Star Wars products out there. But at least it is short.

Hardcore fans that played the first game should rent this title and return it the next day after easily beating it, with the hopes that the sequel will make up for it. Believe me, I wanted this game to be good. At worst, I expected it to be a fun but forgettable diversion. Instead I was left with a game that detracted from the Star Wars mythos worse than Greedo shooting first. In short, this is not the Star Wars game you are looking for. Sorry, couldn’t resist.

Score: 6 out of 10

  1. Presten at 2:14am 8th January 2011 The main problem I have with II is that it is only takes place on three worlds, and the story, compared to I, is boring. The story in I made a lot of sense in the overall Star Wars canon, and actually answered a question I always had: if the Sith only come in two (a master and an apprentice), why did Vader suggest that Luke be turned to the dark side? Wouldn't that have meant that Vader was going to be the odd man out? FU 1 answers that question very nicely and with finality. Also, Starkiller's journey in FU I was compelling, as he tried to figure out who his allegiance is to, start the rebel alliance and figure his purpose in the universe. In II, however, his only mission is to get in to Juno Eclipse's pants, which, well isn't very exciting. After all, Starkiller is like the most powerful Jedi in the known galaxy, which means he can pretty much get any chick that he wants. Why would he go through so much trouble just to get laid by Juno? Sure, she's blonde and buxom, pretty she's pretty much a dime a dozen.
  2. Omg30 at 8:59pm 30th December 2010 Fable 3 check Assasins creed brotherhood Check The force unleash 2 i wish it wasen't a check In November i decided to buy all these games because they looked so awesome and ive played the previous of the games and they where very good so i beat fable 3 then got assasins creed brotherhood beat it and then i get the force unleash 2 and i thought it was all right loved the powers loved the force moves the lighting lots of lighting but after 3hours when i beat darth vador and was waiting for more i saw the credits and thought it couldent be over but... IT WAS it was over the hole game done in 3hours and of course i was thinking maybe theres more to it and so i beat darth vador again sept this time as dark side and i thought maybe it would go longer if i choise the dark side nope i get stabbed from behide and die thats alot better... I would have been better of rebuying shadow of the colossus back and play that for 10hours without food or sleep like i use to when i first got that game so long ago till my ps2 finally kicked the bucket then play Fu2 for another hour.
  3. Lhs9000 at 8:47pm 30th December 2010 Why did i buy this i beat it in like 3hours and i was like wtf when i relized the game was over and once its over you will never go back and play this game again because after playing it and beating it your done your not going to do anything else what really made me go wtf was when i went back and did the vador level and choise the dark side and the clone comes and owns everyone but if your choise the light side the clone dosent show up WTF is stoping the clone from comming back and owning you spare vador.
  4. Joe at 5:38pm 29th December 2010 I got FU II for Christmas and felt like Lucas Arts gave me a big F U. I sat down late Christmas night and fired up the PS 3 with FU II. A mere three hours later I was done. When fighting and beating Vader at the end, I figured he'd somehow escape and that the game would continue....my jaw dropped when I saw the credits. I'm extremely disappointed with this short game. I was anxiously awaiting this game's release and waited even longer since my wife bought it for me as a Christmas gift. To all those that are contemplating on buying this, heed my warning as well as the aforementioned posts on here.....rent the game. It's not worth the going rate they charge for games.
  5. Hunter at 2:47pm 27th December 2010 Ok i got this game withextremely highhopes beacause even though the first one was short and had a few minor gliches, i lovedplaying it. But then once i played this one i wished i hadn't. The story line is even shorter, and compared to the original everymap is as simple as walking around a corner. I will say that the controls are easier to use and allow for more combos in which you can include saber action, force push and lighting. Even with that it does make up for the extreme let down. I cant recall allof the boss battles, probably because they were insignificant. The ones i recall are the monster from the arena, the giant robot thing, and then vader. In the first one you fought a jedi or something at the end of every level. Im not a game reviewer, but id definetly say you were nice to give them a 6 out of 10
  6. Connor at 12:16pm 27th December 2010 Not worth the money -_- i hate it i mean the gameplay its self is good but its WAY to short! I mean really they FAILED on this game i would rate it at a 3-10 and i spent 50 bucks on it D=< Suggestion to make the 3rd one better MAKE IT LONGER!
  7. Ryan at 12:03am 27th December 2010 Really? I may believe u but its probably because i just bouhgt this game and im just hoping its not too lame
  8. Guest9797 at 5:09pm 23rd December 2010 what the f*** i spend $60 on the game and i get a 4 hour piece of crap.i love the 1st game,dispointment
  9. Joshua at 1:52pm 13th December 2010 WOW I am freaken shocked on these reviews. I LOVED TFU1 I probably beat that thing around 7 times. I was going to buy the second one but Im not now. Wow Lucas your just disappointing.
  10. tom 6678 at 3:50pm 12th December 2010 game is ok graphics are really good butt the game is to short
  11. james at 2:21pm 12th December 2010 i cant believe they messed up the game with only 5 hour game play this makes me like never buying a game from them again they cheated me for my money fukin thiefs
  12. Revan-1011 at 11:03pm 11th December 2010 Lucas arts, stop playing with yourself and use your time wisely. Make a decent game again! You suck now days. Better not mess TOR up, or you'll be eternally screwed. We want games like that to take there time, if you want our cash. Force unleashed was awesome, but the same enemies get dull, use your immagination again. Dare I even rent No. 2?
    1. Aderon at 12:17am 24th December 2010 Bioware's making TOR, it's only licensed/published through LucasArts; by THEIR track record, they can't possibly mess it up. As for this game, having never played the first one, I'm fine with it. Good graphics, sound, gameplay was fully what I expected (this is an adventure game people, if you want complexity then go play an RPG or RTS/TBS) and the length was meh. Mirror's Edge was short too, and it got some shitty reviews, but I personally loved that game and still play it to this day. People just need to stop pissing themselves over bad expectations and get on with reality. DLC is out and more, I'm sure is coming. I just wish they'd make it free, considering the lackluster length of the game.
  13. Ariel at 10:21pm 9th December 2010 this game is awesome, but a lot harder than the 1st for me
  14. I "was" a fan at 7:59pm 24th November 2010 disagree!!!
  15. I "was" a fan at 7:12pm 24th November 2010 force push is 2 weak, lighting is awesome, its seems like fore repulse has a glitch and it takes 2 long 2 charge ur force powers.... and in the 1st force unleashed game you could just run at a guy and it will automaticlly block blaster shots for you, now you actually have to hold the block button 2 block the blaster shots,.. and i mean why show boba fett if ur not gona fight him... and at least have yoda show you a new force power.. the trailers were probably better then the game itself.. that trailer where they were in the snow looked awesome.. that should have been part of the game.. i can go on and on about how this game could have been a lot better.. well lets just say if a 3rd force unleashed comes out it better be good and it better take like 3 months 2 beat cause this one was to short
  16. massy12 at 8:57am 24th November 2010 I agree with the whole page, the fact that there are only like 3 levels is literally disgusting, and only half of the adverts that you see in real life are on the game. The yoda scene looks like an excuse to put him into the game, it wouldn't have made much difference if he wasn't even there, Boba Fett may as well have not been in it, although if there is a third one, then we know that he'll have a big role to play. If you look at Assassins Creed 1 > 2, the game play is improved dramatically, with tons of new places and a lengthy story, yet the T.F.U.1 was a great game, good story (although fairly short) and then the second one comes out, took my around 4 to 5 hours and at the end I was literally like: "is that it? wow, that was short"
  17. Lenko99 at 12:48pm 11th November 2010 I'm having lots of issues... One example is: at the Salvation mission I can't force the ''battery's'' out of the 2nd gun....
  18. major f1 at 9:22am 9th November 2010 "You had such potential... you could be so much more... you are a shadow of your former self... you're a thing, a monster..." These quotes from TFU 1 & 2 were warning us!! This game was meant to be bad. I bought collector's edition and didn't want to wait for the awesomely big content to download and I finished the game and was like... is that it? This was like a set-up for something a lot bigger u.u got way too excited with the trailers
  19. ben at 3:07pm 8th November 2010 I have not bot the game just yet but I will report back when I do. P.S. I got the first game and it was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loved the first game i was really sad when the guy died my name is ben $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Fabio Jackson at 11:52am 3rd November 2010 How many levels are there anyone
    1. BizarreSubpar at 8:59pm 5th November 2010 3 levels, but you play one of them twice, so four altogether (not counting that stupid stop on Dagobah where you don't get to do anything)
  21. same as befor at 7:12pm 2nd November 2010 i chose dark at the end and i was pist i thought the game ended with everyone dead
  22. Evan Clarke at 7:08pm 2nd November 2010 Totaly right man wayyyyy to short on not done right
  23. stupid at 1:52pm 2nd November 2010 im so pissed i wasted $60 on this, i was playing it and when i got to vadar thought maybe he'll get away and ill have to go across the galaxy and fight him blah blah, nope. fought him, which was an easy fight the only time i died was when i fell off...the end
  24. Mason at 9:19pm 1st November 2010 I can't believe I bought it it was OK it really disappointed me. Two playable places Wow should've been an add-on or have free add ons that finish the story with multiple levels and locations, like Naboo, Mustafar, Courucant etc. If they don't then I'm getting my money back and complaining to Lucas Arts It feels like it was rushed from development. More Yoda more agony more journey into your soul actually make it DARK
  25. LoraDoom at 5:58pm 31st October 2010 I was so disappointed in this game. The story sucked and the game really only does take like 5 hours to finish. What a rip off!! I mean I was expecting this game to be at least as long as the first one. Whatever you do, don't buy this game, just rent it. This review is dead on.
  26. craig at 7:08am 31st October 2010 Went to rent it and they didn't have it available, so of course loving the first game i bought it instead. Completed it in under 5 hours (while still drinking beer).. Really pissed off and going to see if i can actually get a refund..
  27. stef at 12:11am 31st October 2010 to justin- if u believe everything wiki says, i feel sorry for u coz most people know that the majority of the stuff on there is bull s**t, i've only just bought the game, now i feel a complete Tard for not just renting it. £40 well spent eh

  29. @acelerinoDJ at 6:40pm 30th October 2010 Dudes! I'm from Mexico and I bought this game, it was a huge mistake! don't buy it just rent it, this review reflects exactly the game itself
    1. @acelerinoDJ at 6:41pm 30th October 2010 I can't believe it that I finished the game in less than 6 hours!! it was supposed to last for 3 weeks until assassins creed's release!
  30. justin at 3:58pm 30th October 2010 after beating the game in about 4 hours (with about half an hour of cutscenes) i am genuinley depressed. But i am a little confused as to why i beat the game and still have around 10 locked cinimatics. maybe there is more to the game. and when do you fly a tie fighter like stated in the wiki. time to investigate i hope theres secret hidden levels.
  31. WhiteShadow673 at 3:39pm 30th October 2010 As stated numerous times above, where's the rest of the game?! When you're taken back to Kamino for the second time, I remember saying out loud "this better not be the last level." It made me totally regret downloading the demo because there I was, playing through the same level for the third time. One half decent point, after beating the game I aquired the Boba Fett skin...not really that much of a bonus, but the cut scenes had Starkiller replaced by Fett too. Just kind of funny to see Fett weilding force lightning on Vader. Regardless, a disappointment overall. But as with the first game, I'm sure there will be additional levels available for download in the coming months. I just hope they're compelling enough to pull me away from Black Ops.
  32. Critterface at 1:49pm 30th October 2010 I will say the game is worth a rent, definitely not a buy. The cinematics are beautiful, the gameplay sucks ass. Sorry to tell you! The first game was better to me, at least there were more levels, but this crap is just unexcusable. The only way LucasArts is getting my money is through whatever they make off game rentals. If you are a StarWars fan, I say rent, other than that, SKIP THIS CRAP!!!
  33. Shane at 1:03pm 30th October 2010 o damn i came out hoping for some good reviews but wat i found is really heart wrenching. the commercials and videos i saw really drew me in but now im just disappointed. i think i'll just wait for the price to go down considerably by all the bad reviews then get it and sell it after i beat it. i feel extremely sorry for the people who over-spent on the game. thank you for your reviews i woulda been out $60. I would advise anyone else who is still hoping to play it praying for at least a good few ours of gaming to do the same as me and wait for the game to go down to about $20-$30 then sell it back to gamestop or a friend for about $10. Too bad it coulda been such a good game!
  34. Tyson at 11:51am 30th October 2010 This game I felt was quite badass and all the cutscenes I believe were amazing! Fighting the Gorog was fun, but I was hoping to fight some different monsters before hand like a Rancor or another one of the monsters from Attack of the Clones. I also love the dual lightsabers and be able to mix and math the colors, and its a lot faster to switch costumes and lightsabers. Anoher thing i liked was, did anyone pre-order from gamestop? because the Costume you get is BA! But yeah this game is way to short. Im not done yet (just got to kamino 2nd time) but I prolly put in like 6 hrs which is just dsappointing. A few things that I would have liked to see in this game is more levels. Make Dagobah and actual level, idk fight Yoda to get in the cave or something. Do some more with the story I'd like to see more internal conflict I mean lts face it, ur a clone and not quite sure whats going on, wouldn't you be confused.......anywhozzle i give this game a 7 cuz its baller but its to short
  35. paolo at 8:31am 30th October 2010 im very upset with the way how short the game was i mean i just but it on wedsnday and beat it on thursday when i got home from schoolits like i wasted my money.
  36. Robert at 7:30am 30th October 2010 what was the point of this game? its only about 1/4 the size of the first. come on seriously....only 3 levels (kamino twice, namoidia, dagobah doesnt count, and the salvation). im a little upset i paid all this money for an unfinished product that was obviously meant to come out next year at the earliest but instead was rushed out to be a cash grab for a studio who is firing all of the people who worked on the first unleashed and from what i understand, TFU3 may have been scrapped. how can you scrap it after leaving us with a mess of a story and no clarity on what the real plot was. lucas arts needs to look at the first game again and see why it was so succesful. these companies think its ok to hype up a game so much, know we are all dying to play it and then give us this garbage. i figured the creature in the arena wouldnt be in the game (referring to the game video prior to release). oh well i guess those of us who stayed loyal to star wars feel like saps rt now. i know i do
  37. guest1030 at 6:49am 30th October 2010 This game was the biggest disappointment ever. It took me less than 4 hours to beat it on the hardest mode. Sure the dual lightsaber was a great addition, and the new force mind trick was fun as well. But there are only 4 levels. Lucasarts let everyone down with this game. After beating the first force unleashed I was hoping for a long challenging game, with all new characters, new enemies, and a variety of new levels. This game was a let down in every one of those categories. to repeat what has already been said, RENT DONT BUY!!!!!
  38. Tyranus33 at 5:58am 30th October 2010 Do not pay for this game. It is a waist of money. Any game that can be finished in under 3 hours should be under $20. Instead Lucasarts robbed their loyal customers of not only their money $65.00 in my case), but their love for the Force Unleashed series. I will not be purchasing anymore Lucasarts games without trying them out at a Redbox 1st. This game is the biggest disappoint I have experienced in a very long time and I urge others not to purchase it.
  39. Jian9007 at 2:39am 30th October 2010 I agree. I really wanted this game to be good. It should have been offered as an add-on expansion to the original for $14.99 (U.S.). Shame on Lucasarts for releasing this POS as a "complete game". Epic fail on their part.
  40. Jon at 1:59am 30th October 2010 Big business need to stop making games, and making them so that they are out by a particular release date. Release dates should just be banned. This game had sooooo much potential, then delivered soooooooo little. They are going to have to work bloody hard to get my money next time.
  41. Daniel Brown at 12:07am 30th October 2010 I'm only half way thru it (it's 230 am, didn't start till 12) so i can't give an opinion on length. remember tho this is the age of the DLC so the thin content could be an excuse to squeeze a few extra bucks out of one game. hopefully some of the technical issues will be fixed in short order via patch also
  42. Eric at 11:53pm 29th October 2010 I will not say I hate the game I thought it was very interesting and loved kickig butt. But there was a couple of things that I did not like. One I thought the game was way to short which mad me very sad cause we are looked forward to this for like two years now and all we get is a couple hours of playing and fighting the same enemies over and over again. Two The endings both shocked me. No spoilers just there are two endings {Good} {Bad} and ;et's just say they both will make another sequel. Three I was also like "What?" All we get from Yoda is like a clip and that's it? Spoiler ahead!!!!! And We don't even get to fight Boba Fett? I mean we just battle everyone from the first game no joke. Out of 10 I would have to give it even though I love Star Wars and have mad respect for the first one I will have to agree with the reviewer and give it a 6...maybe a 5 for the shortness. But for the great effects and awesome feeling you get playing this game I would agree with 6.
  43. eddd at 10:07pm 29th October 2010 love starwars so much but this game sucks ass the first was better it is terribly repetitive and i fight the same guys all game long and its just boring and frustrating as hell that nothing new
  44. Mat B at 8:57pm 29th October 2010 Oh well yet another game I won't be playing judging by the negative reviews. What's more I'm sick of games where it's just 1 player for $60 a pop. I love playing co-op games, much more enjoyable to open up a can of whoop ass on your friends at home. I t would be nice if one of these companies could make a decent flight sim combat game too.
  45. Dale at 8:41pm 29th October 2010 This game is terrible. Too short, too repetitive, story is lame, controls are unresponsive (PS3). I won't be putting out cash for any LucasArts games anytime soon. I wish I would have read the reviews before I bought it. And this is coming from an enormous Star Wars fan.
  46. Joseph Balaich at 7:22pm 29th October 2010 I think its interesting I stand alone as a Star Wars fan whom played Star Wars The Force Unleashed II loved the game. They improved the graphics and gameplay and sure the story was not equally as powerful as the first game. But I still love the story and its comparisons to The Empire Strikes Back. Regardless of you say I give it a 10/10. If you want my reasons it will involve spoilers and I'm sure I can't post them here.
    1. CT6 at 8:56am 30th October 2010 whats your reasons? i think this game is a joke and it shouldve been downloadable content on the PS3 network for Force Unleashed 1. a waste of $60 and i was ready and waiting for this sequel.
    2. Ryan at 12:05am 27th December 2010 Lol thank u so much now im not alone
  47. Alecs at 7:07pm 29th October 2010 I dont even know whether i'm even going to rent it now...
    1. Garret at 8:33pm 3rd April 2011 Rent it, you'll want to know the story for TFU3
  48. Alecs at 7:06pm 29th October 2010 fail.
  49. mcv at 7:01pm 29th October 2010 Terrible game! The only thing that I don't agree with in the above review is the 6 out of 10 score that was given, I say a 3 or 4 at its best. It appalls me that Lucasarts would even send this game out to the stores. It seems like they were counting on the success of the first game to have people come out and buy this one. I hope that they look at these reviews and see what kind of game they have produced, even though I can’t imagine how they even thought this was a good idea in the first place. Thanks Lucasarts for smashing my hopes for the best game of the year.
  50. angry person at 6:33pm 29th October 2010 ...WHAT!!! I was playing for 3 in a half hours and im done i agree that it is way too short You want a better starwars game? play Jedi knight its way longer and better story then this junk >: O
  51. Mac Stewart at 6:31pm 29th October 2010 Star wars Force Unleashed Two is AWESOME !!!!!!!! Alot better tyhan the orginal !!!!!!!!
  52. Mick at 5:19pm 29th October 2010 Completely agree with this review. Ive just finished TFU2 and was left sitting in my chair thinking "...........what?". The length of this game completely shocked me, i was expecting atleast a couple of days fighting my way through the galaxy. Instead i find myself fighting the same enemies in every single mission and becoming bored after only a hour or two. Only thing left for me to do with this game is hope i can get a refund in the morning! As said above - RENT! DONT BUY!
  53. James at 5:13pm 29th October 2010 i agree, it was very dissapointing to me. i just bought it yesterday and beat it. the first time i went through and beat it with the dark side option. i was pissed with that ending. then i thought, i bet there is another ending just like the first game and there was. the light side ending i liked a lot better and of course after seeing it you know there will be a sequel. but still i was very dissapointed with how short the game was. its like watching a 30 minute show cut in half to 15 minutes. i felt that the story just stopped when it was getting started. but even when it started out it was like it started in the middle of a completely different story, not a sequel to the first but its own story almost.
    1. JRB at 5:45am 30th October 2010 I want to see a Star Wars game play like Oblivion or Fallout 3, Lucas hook up with Bethesda. SWTFU2 was a major Dissapointment.
  54. jord at 4:54pm 29th October 2010 looking forward to that game so much even got collectors edition. loved the first one.
  55. Luke at 4:47pm 29th October 2010 I agree The Force Unleashed II is a disappointment, they really didnt do a good job with this, i like the first game The Force Unleashed and thought they would expand on that but it seems like less content and a crap story line only good part was at the end where you get to decide between dark side or Jedi I actually thought the real game would start after that but it finished so yeah was disappointing
    1. Josh at 6:43pm 29th October 2010 I thought the same thing, i thought you could choose between the paths and the game goes from there. What happened to all of the cool stuff from the trailers, like taking down a room full of stormtroopers or battling more than one giant monster in the arena!
    2. Ct6 at 8:58am 30th October 2010 Yes the game wouldve been great if it continued after choosing the dark or light side. this game you will only play to get all holocrons and upgrade the force powers. the challenges arent great either.
  56. jim at 3:57pm 29th October 2010 84 dollars for only 4 hours worth of playing time that sucks
    1. ryry at 10:26pm 29th October 2010 alright bro...that sucks
  57. JK3600 at 3:56pm 29th October 2010 Darn, I was looking forward to this. Enjoyed the original enough that I let myself get kind of excited for the sequel.
  58. ore masta at 11:46am 29th October 2010 too much emotion in this piece. /wrists elsewhere
    1. Orion96 at 11:30am 30th October 2010 Rent it dude. You will see this review is right on the money if you played the first game. I personally didn't see any glitches, but the game seems very half complete.
    2. randyland at 12:54pm 30th October 2010 i bought it the day it came out like a retard, i was sure it would be good because i loved the first one! oh well, at least i have fallout new vegas, fable 3, and halo reach to keep me busy haha. there's $60 ill never see again
