Online retailer Newegg is near and dear to the hearts of PC enthusiasts everywhere, and its Black Friday deals are among the most coveted. Now we know exactly what’s on offer, and there are some real heart-stoppers.
The spotlight shines brightest on HP’s EliteBook 840 G1. Okay, sure, it’s not the sexist laptop around, but it’s an EliteBook with a Core i5 processor, four gigabytes of RAM, a 180GB solid state drive and a three year warranty. We liked its cousin, the 820 G1, when we reviewed it earlier this year, but couldn’t recommended it because of an inflated price tag. Newegg’s Black Friday slashes it from $1,199 to $799, however, which eliminates that concern. The 840 G1 is easy to recommend at that price.
Other notable notebook deals include the Lenovo Miix 2 11, which is reduced from $729 to $449, and the Lenovo IdeaPad Y50 review, which is cut from $1,299 to $999. The latter features a GTX 860M graphics chip; not the most capable, but a steal for a thousand bucks. Gamers should also consider the ASUS ROG GL551JK, which has an 850M GPU and is reduced from $1,049 to $879. And last, but not least, is the Asus C300MA Chromebook, which shaves $50 to sell at $199. That may not seem particularly cheap, but Asus’ model has a 13-inch display instead of the 11.6″ screen found on most.
AMD processors have been sharply discounted, as well. The FX-6350 6-core has dropped from $124 to $109, the FX-8320 8-core has dropped from $149 to $119, the FX-8350 Black Edition 8-core has dropped from $179 to $149 and the FX-8370 Black Edition has dropped from $199 to $169. That’s right; you can get an unlocked, eight-core, 4GHz processor for less than $200.
And these are just the highlights. Newegg’s Black Friday deals are already underway, so go check them out yourself.
