Amazon Prime free trial: Get an entire month for free

Shopping online is more popular than ever, and few destinations are as universally praised as Amazon. The retailer carries nearly every product under the sun, making it a one-stop shop for all your consumer needs. Whether you’re searching for a new gaming laptop or a fancy robot vacuum, there’s a good chance you’ll find what you need at Amazon.

Most online shoppers have probably heard of Amazon Prime — a monthly subscription service that gets you free two-day shipping, among other perks —  though you may have been put off by its hefty fees. Despite the monthly fee (which seems to grow larger every year), anyone who uses Amazon a few times a month will find the service to be a worthwhile investment. Coupled with access to Prime Video and Prime Reading, there’s a lot of value packed into Amazon Prime.

Unsure if the service is for you? Here’s how to get a free Amazon Prime trial, along with Prime deals and more ways to save money.

Is there an Amazon Prime free trial?

There is indeed an Amazon Prime free trial. It’s available to new subscribers and anybody else who has not had Amazon Prime (either a paid or trial membership) in the last 12 months. It’s a pretty good one, too, letting you enjoy all the features of Prime for a full 30 days. Amazon Prime comes with a lot of benefits, so anything less than 30 days likely wouldn’t be long enough to really explore what your membership has to offer. These include an Amazon Prime Video free trial, a 30-day Amazon Music free trial, free games and in-game content with Prime Gaming, free e-books with Prime Reading, and more.

You will have to enter your payment information to activate your Amazon Prime free trial, but chances are good that you already have an Amazon account so that info is likely already on file — all you have to do is head over to the Amazon Prime page and , if it’s available to you.

Can you get Amazon Prime for free?

Generally, there’s no easy way to get Amazon Prime for free — at least not permanently. However, students enrolled in an eligible higher education institution (i.e. most U.S. universities) can take advantage of an extended six-month Amazon Prime free trial, enjoying all the benefits of a Prime membership for half a year without paying a cent. Sometimes, internet and cellular service providers bundle premium memberships with select data plans. Right now, for instance, you can get Amazon Prime with T-Mobile’s $60/month prepaid Metro Unlimited plan. If you’re not a student and aren’t looking to switch phone carriers, though, then the Amazon Prime free trial is the best way to enjoy Prime for free, if only for 30 days, as a new member.

Are there any Amazon Prime deals?

You may be able to get an Amazon Prime membership at a discount depending on your circumstances. Along with the extended six-month Amazon Prime free trial, currently enrolled college students can get Amazon Prime for just $7.50 per month after that trial period is up — that’s a 50% savings off the usual membership price and the perfect way to watch the best shows on Amazon Prime after a long day of classes and studying.

For the rest of us, the surest way to save on Amazon Prime is by opting for the annual membership. If paid month-to-month, Amazon Prime costs $15 monthly, or $180 for the year. However, the annual subscription costs $139 if you pay upfront, saving you $41. That’s a better value with an average monthly cost of less than $12. Considering all you get with Amazon Prime, we think that’s a pretty solid value. Note, too, that even if you sign up for the annual subscription, you still get your first 30 days free thanks to that Amazon Prime free trial kicking in automatically (assuming you’re eligible for it) — you won’t actually pay until after your trial expires.

The screen of the MacBook Air on a table.

Always a great place to check for laptop deals, Amazon has a great one on the Apple MacBook Air with M2 chip right now. Usually costing $999, you can buy the popular laptop for just $829 right now so you’re saving a huge $170. The discount is highly unlikely to stick around given it’s a limited time deal, so if you’re keen to learn more about it, take a quick read below before you miss out.

Why you should buy the Apple MacBook Air M2
When we reviewed the Apple MacBook Air M2, we described it as “what Apple has always wanted”. It’s incredibly thin, has great battery life, all while performing admirably. At its heart is its M2 chip along with 8GB of memory and 256GB of SSD storage. We’d like to have seen more storage but memory wise, this may not sound as good as the best laptops but Apple knows how to use its hardware well.

Best Microsoft Office deals: Get Word, PowerPoint, and Excel for free
Students using Microsoft Office software on their laptops outside.

When it comes to productivity software, there's a huge fight right now between Microsoft vs Google to see who can capture the largest share of the market. Of course, if you're already in the Microsoft ecosystem due to work or just being used to it, then you'll want to grab Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365. Both of these are quite expensive, and while there is a free trial of Microsoft Word, you're still going to have to pay a high price to use the whole Microsoft Suite fully. That's why we've gone and collected some of our favorite deals below to save you a little extra cash.
Best Microsoft Office deals
Microsoft Office is a pay once, receive once service. You don't have to pay recurring monthly fees to use it, but the software also never updates. For what it's worth, the Microsoft Office packages are labelled "2021", so they're all fairly recent but also ripe for a good deal. With the exception of AI integrations, not much has really changed in the past couple of years when it comes to your basic document creation and these programs should continue to be effective for years to come. Depending on what package you get, you'll get access to different apps, based on the needs of the target audience. For example, Microsoft Office Home & Student 2021 keeps it lean and cool and with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint being the only apps included.

Here are our favorite deals for the classic Microsoft Office experience:
